Job summary

Asiakom - Asia Communication & Electronic seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead railway track construction and related infrastructure projects in Malaysia. You will oversee cross-functional teams, define deliverables, and drive schedules, budgets, and quality compliance across the project lifecycle.

The role requires 8+ years of progressive railway industry experience, strong leadership, and a proven track record in delivering large-scale projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Project management certification (PMP) desirable.
  • 8-10 years in railway track construction or related infrastructure.

Educational Qualifications

Experience
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in railway track construction, maintenance, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects from initiation to completion.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing project budgets
  • In-depth knowledge of railway track design, construction methods, and industry regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee the site organization team, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration among various departments.
  • Define departmental deliverables, set clear objectives, and monitor progress towards achieving targets.
  • Coordinate with department heads to allocate resources and address any bottlenecks or challenges impeding project progress.
  • Create detailed project schedules, identifying critical milestones and dependencies.
  • Monitor and adjust project plans as necessary to accommodate changes or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Manage project finances to ensure projects are completed within budgetary constraints.
  • Monitor project expenditures closely and track them against the allocated budget.
  • Implement cost-saving measures and strategies to optimize resource utilization and control project costs.

  • Prepare and manage interim and final progress claims to the client in accordance with contractual agreements.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of progress claims, including documentation of completed work, materials used, and associated costs.

  • Coordinate resources including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to project team members, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Manage resource allocation and utilization to optimize project efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, and internal departments.
  • Provide regular project updates to stakeholders, addressing concerns and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Foster positive relationships with stakeholders to ensure alignment and satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and project specifications.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to monitor and evaluate project performance.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address quality issues proactively.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
  • Implement risk management protocols to address safety hazards, environmental concerns, and other project risks.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, permits, drawings, and reports.
  • Oversee the management of weekly and monthly reports generated by planning, quantity surveying, QAQC, safety teams, encompassing both internal and external reporting needs. These reports will comprehensively detail project status, milestones achieved, upcoming tasks, and other pertinent project updates.
  • Compile lessons learned and best practices for future reference and continuous improvement.
  • Perform any ad-hoc tasks, duties, and responsibilities assigned by the Senior Project Manager from time to time.
