Job summary

VIKING OFFSHORE MALAYSIA SDN BHD is seeking an experienced Project Manager in Johor Bahru to lead offshore engineering projects. You will oversee scope, timelines, budgets and stakeholder expectations, while ensuring safety and high-quality delivery.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering or related field, at least 5 years in offshore/oil and gas, and strong knowledge of PMI/PRINCE2 frameworks. You will coordinate cross-functional teams and manage risks with focus on HSE compliance.

Qualifications

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our engineering team in Johor Bahru, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial strategic role in overseeing the planning, execution and successful completion of offshore engineering projects. As Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing project scope, timelines, budgets and stakeholder expectations, whilst ensuring all work is delivered safely and to the highest standards. This role is integral to our operational success and directly impacts our ability to deliver value to our clients and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

Planning and scheduling project activities, establishing realistic timelines and resource allocation strategies

Managing project budgets, financial forecasting and cost control measures to ensure projects remain within approved parameters

Identifying and mitigating project risks, developing contingency plans and proactively managing potential challenges

Coordinating and leading project teams, including contractors and subcontractors, to ensure collaborative and effective delivery

Monitoring project progress against key performance indicators and reporting status updates to senior management and clients

Managing stakeholder communications, maintaining professional relationships and ensuring alignment on project objectives

Ensuring compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle

Documenting project deliverables, maintaining accurate records and preparing comprehensive project closure reports

Liaising with engineering, procurement and operations teams to ensure seamless project integration

What we’re looking for

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience

Minimum 5 years of project management experience, preferably within offshore, marine or oil and gas sectors

Strong knowledge of project management methodologies such as PMI, PRINCE2 or similar frameworks

Demonstrated expertise in project planning, scheduling, budgeting and resource management

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels

Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Sound understanding of health, safety and environmental (HSE) requirements and best practices

Strong problem-solving capabilities and commercial acumen to identify cost-effective solutions

Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office applications

Relevant professional certifications (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent) are highly desirable

Experience in the offshore or marine engineering sector would be advantageous
