We are seeking an experienced Project Leader to lead and manage our Japan-facing software development project team. In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting Japanese business specification documents, driving design and delivery, and serving as the primary liaison with Japanese clients. You will ensure projects are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards.
Lead and manage a project team for Japan-facing software development projects
Interpret Japanese business specification documents and create basic/detailed design documentation
Assign tasks, manage man-hours, and oversee project progress to ensure timely delivery
Organize code reviews and drive testing activities (unit, integration, and system testing)
Communicate directly with Japanese clients to clarify requirements, handle business negotiations, and provide regular status reports
Ensure on-time, high-quality project delivery while managing risks and issues effectively
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
8+ years of software development experience, with a proven track record in enterprise application development
Strong hands-on experience with Java, React, Oracle, and MySQL
Solid understanding of software design principles, microservices architecture, and RESTful APIs
Experience with version control tools (Git) and CI/CD pipelines is a plus
Japanese proficiency at JLPT N2 or above - capable of reading business specification documents, handling email correspondence, and delivering client presentations in Japanese
Ability to communicate effectively with Mandarin-speaking customers and project teams is required
Proven experience leading project teams in Japan-facing development environments
Ability to coordinate and supervise team workflows, with strong task delegation and progress tracking skills
Willingness to travel overseas for business assignments (short-term project support)
