We are looking for a System Engineer to join our Japan-facing software development team. You will be responsible for interpreting Japanese specification documents, performing module-level design, coding, and testing, while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in Japan-facing software development projects, contributing to all phases of the development lifecycle
• Interpret Japanese specification documents and create module-level design and technical documentation
• Perform coding and development using Java and React, following design specifications
• Conduct unit testing and integration testing, and document test results
• Coordinate with internal teams and external Japanese clients to clarify business requirements and technical questions
• Support project delivery in collaboration with the Project Leader and other team members

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of software development experience, with exposure to Japan-facing projects
• Proficiency in Java, React, Oracle, and MySQL
• Experience with REST API development, Spring Boot framework, and database design
• Familiarity with Agile or Waterfall development methodologies
• Japanese reading and writing proficiency at JLPT N3 or equivalent – able to read and understand Japanese specification documents independently
• Ability to communicate effectively with Mandarin-speaking customers and project teams is required
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and coordination abilities
• Willingness to travel overseas for business assignments (short-term project support)
• Hands-on experience in Smart Manufacturing & Industry 4.0 systems
