Job summary

Jora Malaysia seeks an experienced Project Leader to head our Japan-facing software development teams. You will translate Japanese business specifications, drive design and delivery, and serve as the primary liaison with Japanese clients.

You will lead project teams, manage delivery timelines, organize code reviews, and ensure high quality across Java, React, Oracle, and MySQL. Proficiency in JLPT N2, Mandarin communication, and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of software development experience with enterprise apps.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, React, Oracle, and MySQL.
• Solid understanding of software design principles, microservices, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
• Japanese proficiency at JLPT N2 or above in reading specs, emails, and client presentations.
• Ability to communicate with Mandarin-speaking customers and project teams.
• Proven experience leading project teams in Japan-facing environments.
• Willingness to travel overseas for business assignments.
• Hands-on experience in Smart Manufacturing & Industry 4.0.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a project team for Japan-facing software development projects.
• Interpret Japanese business specification documents and create basic/detailed design documentation.
• Assign tasks, manage man-hours, and oversee project progress to ensure timely delivery.
• Organize code reviews and drive testing activities (unit, integration, and system testing).
• Communicate directly with Japanese clients to clarify requirements, handle business negotiations, and provide regular status reports.
• Ensure on-time, high-quality project delivery while managing risks and issues effectively.
