Job summary

SEMI Integration (M) Sdn Bhd in Penang seeks an experienced Project Leader to guide Japan-facing software development projects. You will interpret Japanese specifications, drive design and delivery, and act as the primary liaison with Japanese clients.

You will lead a cross-functional team, manage milestones and risk, review code, and coordinate testing. Proficiency in Java, React, Oracle and MySQL, plus JLPT N2+ and Mandarin communication, are required. Willingness to travel overseas is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, SE or related field.
• 8+ years of software development, enterprise apps.
• Strong hands-on with Java, React, Oracle and MySQL.
• Knowledge of microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD.
• JLPT N2+ Japanese proficiency for reading specs and communicating with clients.
• Mandarin-speaking communication with teams.
• Experience leading Japan-facing development teams.
• Willing to travel overseas for short-term projects.
• Hands-on in Smart Manufacturing & Industry 4.0 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a project team for Japan-facing software development projects.
• Interpret Japanese business specification documents and create design documentation.
• Assign tasks, manage man-hours, and oversee project progress.
• Organize code reviews and drive testing activities.
• Communicate with Japanese clients to clarify requirements and provide status reports.
