Job summary

MYDECOR INTERIOR SDN. BHD. is seeking a creative interior designer to deliver fit-out concepts for commercial spaces in Malaysia.

You will work with clients to understand objectives, develop proposals, and prepare concept designs with visuals for approval. You will produce detailed technical drawings, coordinate with project teams, select materials, and ensure designs comply with local codes while keeping within budget.

Qualifications

• Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant interior fit-out experience (commercial, office, retail, or hospitality preferred).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator, with knowledge of SketchUp/3ds Max a plus.
• Familiarity with local authority regulations and submission processes is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients to understand project objectives, requirements, and design preferences, and develop creative yet practical design proposals.
• Prepare and present concept designs, including space planning, mood boards, and 2D/3D visualizations for client approval.
• Produce detailed design drawings, including layout plans, elevations, sections, and construction/shop drawings for project execution.
• Coordinate closely with project managers, site teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure design intent is accurately implemented on site.
• Select and propose suitable materials, finishes, and specifications, ensuring alignment with design concept, budget, and buildability.
• Ensure designs comply with local authority requirements, building codes, and safety regulations.
• Support project costing by preparing design-related estimates and ensuring solutions remain within the approved budget.
• Review drawings and identify discrepancies or technical issues, providing timely solutions.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress, resolve design-related issues, and ensure quality standards are met.
• Participate in project meetings and provide design updates throughout the project lifecycle.

About you

• Strong technical drawing and detailing skills with understanding of construction methods and materials.
• Familiarity with local authority regulations and submission processes is an advantage.
• Good coordination and communication skills, with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage timelines effectively.
