Job summary

VAI SOLUTIONS (M) SDN. BHD. is seeking a Corporate Interior Designer specializing in Office Design & Build to deliver end-to-end workspace solutions from initial client briefing through to handover.

You will develop design concepts, create 3D renderings, and prepare detailed construction documents while coordinating with M&E engineers and contractors, ensuring compliance with local regulations and sustainable standards.

Qualifications

• Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Revit (BIM) and visualization tools such as V-Ray/Enscape.
• Strong knowledge of commercial office materials, ergonomics and M&E coordination.
• Experience with statutory submissions and green building standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct briefing sessions with corporate clients to understand workspace needs, brand identity and culture.
• Develop design concepts, mood boards, color palettes and 3D renderings for stakeholder presentations.
• Produce space layouts, hybrid office strategies and test-fit plans for client review.
• Prepare detailed construction drawings, including layout plans, RCP and joinery details.
• Source FF&E and finishes compliant with client budgets and project specs.
• Ensure designs meet local regulations, fire safety and accessibility codes and LEED/WELL standards.
• Coordinate with QS, PM and BD teams to align design scope with budgets and timelines.
• Interface with M&E engineers and contractors to translate drawings into build-ready plans.
• Perform regular site visits to audit build quality and address RFIs.
• Conduct final snagging and ensure smooth handover to the client.

Job description

A Corporate Interior Designer specializing in Office Design & Build (D&B), responsible for delivering comprehensive workspace solutions from initial client consultation through to project handover. The role encompasses design concept development, technical documentation, vendor coordination, and on-site quality assurance for corporate office projects.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct briefing sessions with corporate clients to understand workspace needs, company culture, headcount projections, and brand identity
• Develop design concepts, mood boards, color palettes, material samples, and 3D renderings to present workspace visions to corporate stakeholders
• Produce efficient space layouts, workplace strategies (e.g., hybrid office setups, hot-desking, collaborative zones), and preliminary test-fit plans
• Prepare detailed construction and technical drawing sets, including layout plans, reflected ceiling plans (RCP), electrical/power points, plumbing, elevation, and joinery/carpentry details
• Source and specify Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E), finishes, lighting, acoustic paneling, and flooring while adhering to client budget limits
• Ensure all designs comply with local building regulations, fire safety standards, accessibility codes (e.g., ADA/local equivalent), and green building certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL)
• Work closely with in-house Quantity Surveyors (QS), Project Managers (PM), and Business Development teams to align design scope with project timelines and commercial budgets
• Coordinate with M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) engineers, main contractors, custom joiners, and IT/AV specialists to ensure seamless translation of design drawings into physical build
• Conduct regular site visits during construction to audit build quality, verify spatial accuracy, address unexpected site conditions, and resolve contractor design queries (RFIs)
• Perform final snagging list inspections, rectify design defects before project completion, and ensure smooth handover to the client

About you

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Revit (BIM), V-Ray, Enscape, and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign)
• In-depth understanding of commercial office materials, ergonomic systems furniture, M&E coordination, and statutory submission requirements
• Strong presentation capabilities, spatial problem-solving, and attention to detail
• Ability to manage tight project deadlines
