Job summary

Rtist in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is seeking an experienced Interior Design Lead to guide the design team through daily project progress and design execution.

You will review 2D and 3D drawings for accuracy and buildability, provide technical guidance on joinery details and space planning, and ensure on-time delivery while coordinating with Sales, Project, and Site teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of Interior Design experience, with team-leading or senior-level exposure.
• Strong knowledge of 2D drawings, detailing, space planning and construction drawings.
• Solid understanding of custom cabinetry / joinery detailing and installation.
• Able to review drawings independently and detect mistakes before production or site execution.
• Highly detail-oriented, organized and responsible; strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Interior Design team in daily project progress and design execution.
• Review 2D & 3D drawings before submission or construction to ensure accuracy, completeness and buildability.
• Cross-check drawings carefully, including dimensions, materials, cabinetry details, electrical points and site requirements.
• Possess strong joinery / cabinetry knowledge and provide technical guidance to designers.
• Identify drawing mistakes, missing details and potential site issues before they become construction problems.
• Ensure designers follow company drawing standards, workflow and project timelines.
• Monitor project progress and follow up on overdue drawings, revisions and pending tasks.
• Guide designers in solving design, technical and space-planning issues.
• Communicate effectively with Sales, Project and Site teams to ensure design information is clear and accurate.
• Reduce unnecessary back-and-forth communication between departments by providing clear decisions and instructions.
• Coach and develop junior/mid-level designers to improve their design, technical knowledge, accuracy and efficiency.
• Maintain high standards of attention to detail, accountability and quality control across the design team.

• Comfortable giving constructive feedback and holding team members accountable.
• Good understanding of renovation/site processes will be an advantage.
• Proficient in relevant interior design and drafting software.
