Job summary

Verde Design Lab (M) Sdn Bhd 苗子設計坊 is seeking an Intermediate Interior Designer in Kuala Lumpur. You will bridge junior and senior designers, lead design delivery, and advance client management while handling diverse commercial and residential projects.

You will translate briefs into innovative, functional spaces, develop concepts, and collaborate with peers to ensure project success and compliance with Malaysia’s codes.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related discipline.
• 3–5 years of professional interior design experience.
• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and 3D rendering tools.
• Strong understanding of spatial planning, materials and finishes.
• Excellent technical drawing and documentation skills.
• Strong project management with ability to coordinate multiple projects.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of sustainable design practices in Malaysia.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior staff.
• Portfolio demonstrating a range of interior design projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop design concepts and detailed interior design solutions based on client requirements, project briefs and site constraints.
• Create technical drawings, floor plans, elevations, sections and 3D visualisations using industry-standard design software.
• Conduct site surveys and measurements to ensure accuracy in design proposals and specifications.
• Prepare material and colour boards, mood boards and presentation materials for client pitches and project updates.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
• Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring deliverables are completed on schedule and within financial parameters.
• Liaise with clients throughout the design process, incorporating feedback and managing design revisions.
• Produce detailed specifications and procurement documentation for materials, finishes and furnishings.
• Assist in supervising and mentoring junior design staff where required.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards and sustainable design practices.

About the role

We are seeking an Intermediate Interior Designer to join our dynamic design team based in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a more prominent role within our interior design practice, where you will work on diverse commercial and residential projects of varying scales and complexity. In this position, you will bridge the gap between junior design staff and senior designers, taking greater responsibility for project delivery whilst continuing to develop your design expertise and client management skills. You will play a key role in translating client briefs into innovative, functional and aesthetically compelling interior spaces that enhance user experience and meet strategic business objectives.

What we're looking for

• Proven ability to develop creative design solutions whilst maintaining functionality and client objectives
• Excellent technical drawing and documentation skills with attention to detail
• Strong project management capabilities with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to present ideas clearly to clients and stakeholders
• Knowledge of sustainable and eco-friendly design practices
• Familiarity with building codes, regulations and compliance requirements in Malaysia
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and take direction from senior design staff
