Press Metal Bintulu Sdn. Bhd. is looking for an experienced and results-driven Production Manager to lead the production. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing billet casting operations, ensuring safe and efficient production, maintaining product quality, optimizing manpower and resources, and supporting the successful start-up and continuous improvement of the new phase facility.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily production activities for the casting deparment to achieve production, quality, safety, and efficiency targets.
- Plan and coordinate billet casting operations to ensure production schedules and output requirements are consistently achieved.
- Establish and monitor production KPIs, including productivity, yield, quality, equipment utilization, downtime, and operational efficiency.
- Lead the commissioning, start-up, ramp-up, and stabilization of Billet operations.
- Develop and implement production strategies, operating procedures, work instructions, and process improvements to optimize casting performance.
- Ensure billet production meets established quality specifications and customer requirements while minimizing defects, rework, and material losses.
- Monitor production processes and identify opportunities to improve productivity, process stability, yield, and cost efficiency.
- Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, EHS, Warehouse, and other relevant departments to ensure smooth and uninterrupted production operations.
- Lead manpower planning, deployment, competency development, training, and performance management for the Billet Cast House production team.
- Develop and strengthen the technical capabilities of operators, technicians, engineers, and production supervisors through structured training and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure strict compliance with company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety requirements, and environmental standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all production activities are conducted in accordance with EHS requirements.
- Investigate production abnormalities, process deviations, equipment-related issues, and quality problems, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyze production data and prepare regular reports on production performance, efficiency, quality, downtime, manpower, and improvement initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including productivity improvement, waste reduction, cost optimization, and process efficiency.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Maintenance teams to ensure equipment readiness, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of operational issues.
- Support the implementation and improvement of automation, digitalization, and production monitoring systems within the Billet production.
- Ensure adequate production readiness in terms of manpower, materials, equipment, processes, and operational procedures.
- Lead and manage production supervisors and teams to ensure effective shift operations and achievement of departmental objectives.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by Management.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to lead a large production workforce.
- Strong knowledge of billet casting and Aluminum casting processes.
- Excellent understanding of production planning, process control, quality management, and manufacturing operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
- Ability to manage production performance through data analysis and KPI monitoring.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety, risk management, and industrial EHS requirements.
- Ability to lead commissioning, start-up, ramp-up, and stabilization of new production facilities.
- Strong focus on continuous improvement, operational excellence, productivity, and cost efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other relevant engineering disciplines.
- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in aluminum, metal processing, casting, manufacturing, or other heavy industrial production environments.
- Candidates with strong experience in billet casting, aluminum casting, Cast House operations, or similar continuous production processes will have a strong advantage.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a managerial or senior production leadership position.
- Proven experience in managing production teams, manpower planning, production KPIs, and operational performance.
- Experience in commissioning, start-up, or expansion of a new production line/facility will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, quality control, equipment reliability, and industrial safety.
- Willing to be based in Bintulu, Sarawak.
