Job summary

PRESS METAL ALUMINIUM HOLDINGS BERHAD in Malaysia seeks a Production Quality Engineer to safeguard product excellence on the factory floor, performing real-time sampling, testing, and direct involvement with modern QA methods.

You will maintain testing instruments, calibrate equipment, inspect live output, monitor process controls, report anomalies, and support ISO 9001/IATF 16949 quality systems with a hands-on, team-focused mindset on the production line.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Metallurgical, Materials, Mechanical, Chemical), Quality Management, or related technical fields.
• Hands-on mindset with shop-floor testing and instrumentation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to spot defect trends.
• Team player with good communication for shift briefings.

Responsibilities

• In-Line Sampling & Testing: real-time production sampling, sample prep, testing with lab equipment per SOPs.
• Production Equipment Maintenance & Calibration: daily maintenance and calibration of testing instruments and lathe machines.
• Production Line Inspection & Final Approval: in-process and final inspections of live output against specs.
• Process Control & Line Abnormality Reporting: monitor controls, analyze data, and report issues promptly.
• Safety & Compliance: follow PPE, 5S, and quality system requirements.
• Quality Management & Audit Readiness: support ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, assist audits.
• Supplier Quality & Raw Material Control: inspect incoming materials to ensure process stability.

We are looking for an energetic, detail-driven Production Quality Engineer to be our frontline guardian of product excellence. Key Responsibilities

In-Line Sampling & Testing: Perform real-time production sampling, sample preparation, and testing using specialized laboratory equipment (such as spectrometers and measuring tools) in accordance with approved test methods and SOPs.

Production Equipment Maintenance & Calibration: Conduct daily routine maintenance, fine-tuning, and calibration on testing instruments, lathe machines, and measuring equipment directly supporting the production line.

Production Line Inspection & Final Approval: Carry out physical in-process and final inspections on live production output, verifying product appearance, packaging, labeling, and specifications prior to final system approval.

Process Control & Line Abnormality Reporting: Monitor real-time process controls, analyze sample test data, document quality results, and immediately report production abnormalities, material non-conformances, or machinery issues to production superiors.

Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to plant safety rules, wear required PPE on the production floor, maintain 5S housekeeping standards, revise work instructions, and support engineering teams with quality improvement initiatives.

Quality Management & Audit Readiness: Maintain quality assurance processes aligned with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards. Lead internal, supplier, and system audits to ensure complete audit compliance across plant operations

Supplier Quality & Raw Material Control: Perform capability audits and inspect incoming raw materials (such as alumina, petroleum coke, coal tar pitch, and alloying materials) to guarantee process stability in the potline and cast house.

What We Are Looking For

Qualification: Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Metallurgical, Materials, Mechanical, Chemical), Quality Management, or related technical fields.

Hands‑on Mindset: Passion for working directly on the shop floor with test instruments, sample prep tools, and production quality processes to maintain high standards.

Sharp Eye for Detail: Ability to analyze sample data accurately, spot defect trends, and act decisively under operational guidelines.

Team Player: Great communication skills for daily shift briefings, quick problem-solving with production teams, and readiness to support operational goals.
