Job summary

W&S Plastics Sdn Bhd in Kulai, Johor, is seeking a Process Engineer/Supervisor - Assembly to optimise our assembly operations and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes. This full-time role bridges engineering and operations to keep lines productive, safe and quality-focused.

The ideal candidate will lead a night shift in an ISO 7 cleanroom, manage multi-skilled operators, and implement Lean/Six Sigma methods to reduce waste and downtime while ensuring on-time delivery.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Process Engineer/Supervisor - Assembly to join W&S Plastics Sdn Bhd in Kulai, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in optimising our assembly operations and driving continuous improvement across our manufacturing processes. As a Process Engineer/Supervisor, you will bridge the gap between technical engineering and operational management, ensuring our assembly lines operate at peak efficiency whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. You will be instrumental in enhancing productivity, reducing waste, and implementing innovative solutions that support the company's strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Responsible for managing the night shift assembly operation in a ISO 7 cleanroom environment.
• Maintain a 100% DIFOT to customer. Which means ensuring that Job Orders are completed on time.
• Customer complaints and DPPM kept to a minimum. Use Root Cause and Corrective Action Techniques to analyse failures.
• Measure, manage & reduce scrap rates by Job Order on a monthly basis for all assembly stations.
• Manage kitting effectively by Job to ensure that the correct parts are kitted to the line and documented on the Job Orders
• Ensure that Line Clearance is performed properly and recorder correctly at each station in every Job Order
• Operator Discipline and 5S is always maintained in the Cleanroom.
• Continuous training and assessment for all assembly operators so that they all are multi-skilled and capable of running all stations.
• Minimise machine/equipment downtime by a good maintenance and spare part program.
• Manage inventory of Raw Materials and Finished Goods and ensure that variances between Physical and Pronto numbers are kept to a minimum.

What we're looking for

• Degree / Diploma in Engineering or equivalent prefered
• 3 years’ experience in assembly manufacturing line
• Solid knowledge and experiences in operation of assembly line
• Proven experience in supervising production teams and managing assembly line operations
• Strong understanding of assembly processes, tooling, fixtures and automation systems
• Experience with process optimisation techniques including Lean, Six Sigma or similar methodologies
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex operational issues
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organisation
• Leadership capabilities with experience in training, coaching and developing team members
• Knowledge of quality management systems, particularly ISO 9001 or equivalent standards
• Familiarity with plastics manufacturing or related industries is highly desirable
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities

Established in 1978, W&S Plastics has continued to grow and improve throughout the years. We are now the largest and most advanced custom injection molder in NSW Australia.

We first started in October 2016 with a manufacturing facility in I Park Kulai, Johor. This facility grew from a brand new, empty factory, to an operational state-of-the-art injection molding facility in just 6 months thanks the dedication and hard work of our team. Our moulding and sub assembly operations are housed in an ISO 8 Cleanroom.

We recently added a new manufacturing site in I Park Kulai (5 minutes from our old facility).

This new facility has a ISO 7 Cleanroom that will be doing full assembly for a new OEM customer.
