Job summary

Takaful Malaysia is seeking a systems management and maintenance specialist to oversee vSphere, Linux (RHEL/Oracle Linux), Windows Server, backup, and storage systems. The role focuses on health checks, incident resolution, and proactive capacity planning.

Responsibilities include OS hardening with automation, supporting IT audits, and driving automation initiatives with PowerShell and other tools. Standby and after-hours support may be required as part of ensuring continuous operation.

Qualifications

• Experience managing vSphere and Linux (RHEL/Oracle) environments.
• Proficiency with Windows Server maintenance and backups.
• Familiarity with Ansible for OS hardening and automation.

System Management & Maintenance

• Oversee and manage the vSphere virtualization platforms, Linux environments (RHEL & Oracle Linux), Windows Server, Commvault Backup & Recovery, SAN Switches and SAN Storage systems.
• Perform daily, weekly and periodic system health checks, monitor system performance and address day-to-day issues to ensure operational reliability.
• Troubleshoot and report incidents, problems and anomalies within managed systems, backup and storage appliances.
• Review and optimize system and storage resource usage, conducting capacity planning to ensure timely investments.
• Responsible for system maintenance, including executing OS and security patches, as well as system firmware upgrades.

Security, Compliance & IT Audit

• Implement security measures, including OS hardening using Ansible automation platform, penetration testing and vulnerability assessments, addressing IT security-related issues.
• Support IT audit activities, including internal audits, external audits and regulatory system audits.

Infrastructure Improvement & Automation

• Study and identify opportunities for system enhancements and drive improvement initiatives.
• Focus on areas such as patch automation & compliance, health monitoring, server inventory, capacity planning, security improvement and OS hardening.
• Conduct research and stay updated on the latest automation technologies and industry trends, incorporating these into the infrastructure strategy.
• Develop and implement automation scripts using tools like PowerShell and other relevant technologies to improve efficiency.

Health Monitoring & Proactive Management

• Improve system health monitoring capabilities and develop advanced notification mechanisms to proactively address potential issues.
• Participate in disaster recovery preparation and simulation exercises to ensure system resilience.

Collaboration & Project Support

• Collaborate with the Core Systems, Satellite Solutions team and vendors for day-to-day operations and IT-related projects.
• Participate in IT infrastructure implementation projects, supporting project leads to ensure successful project delivery.

Documentation & Compliance

• Create and maintain operational documentation, standard operating procedures and ensure compliance with IT policies and change management protocols.
• Undertake any other duties as deemed necessary for the overall management and support of the integrated systems environment.

Standby Support

• Provide standby support outside of regular working hours as required to ensure the continuous operation of critical systems and timely resolution of incidents.
• Be available to work after-hours for emergency and incident support requests, ensuring that any urgent issues are promptly addressed.
