Pivotal Systems Malaysia is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to administer and optimize virtualization, storage, and network environments. You will manage VMware vSphere/ESXi and Proxmox VE, oversee SAN/NAS storage, and ensure robust DR and backups in a manufacturing-adjacent setting.
The role requires 4–7+ years in enterprise infra, strong Windows Server and Linux skills, and scripting capabilities with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
Virtualization & Compute Management: Administer & Maintain, upgrade, and monitor hypervisors, including Hyper-V, VMware vSphere/ESXi and Proxmox VE environments. Perform host migrations, VM provisioning, resource allocation, and storage integration.
Storage Administration: Administer enterprise SAN/NAS systems (e.g., Dell PowerEdge storage arrays, HP, Synology RS units). Configure hardware RAID arrays, iSCSI/NFS targets, SSD storage tiers, and handle capacity planning.
Network Infrastructure: Configure and maintain core network hardware, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN connections (e.g., Meraki, OpenVPN). Manage VLANs, subnets, routing protocols, and network segmentations to ensure high availability and security.
Server Administration (Windows & Linux): Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Server systems alongside Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL). Automate routine system tasks via PowerShell or Bash scripts.
Data Center Operations: Oversee physical and virtual data center operations, including server rack layouts, cabling, power redundancy (UPS systems), backup power, environmental monitoring, and hardware lifecycle management.
Manufacturing Support (OT/IT Integration): Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to ensure high uptime for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), shop-floor workstations, industrial PCs, and edge controllers on the factory floor.
Disaster Recovery & Backups: Implement, test, and document robust backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and retention policies to meet internal RPO and RTO objectives.
Security & Compliance: Apply system security hardening guidelines, run patch management routines across servers and network appliances, and assist with IT compliance audits.
Requirements:Experience: 4–7+ years of experience in enterprise systems engineering, infrastructure administration, or datacenter management.
Virtualization: Deep hands‑on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi (cluster management, vMotion, storage pools). Hands‑on experience or active deployment capability with Proxmox VE (PVE).
Operating Systems: Strong command of Windows Server (2012,2016/2019/2022) administration and Linux enterprise environments (Ubuntu Server, Red Hat, Debian).
Storage Systems: Solid understanding of block and file storage protocols (iSCSI, NFS, SMB) and RAID configurations (RAID 1, 5, 6, 10) on enterprise hardware.
Networking: Proficiency in core networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLAN tagging, subnetting, VPN tunnels, firewall rules, routing).
Data Center: Direct physical server maintenance experience (rack mounting, cable management, hardware diagnostics, power redundancy).
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience and technical certifications may be considered in place of a degree.
Preferred Skills:Industry Experience: Background working in manufacturing, industrial processing, or high‑tech engineering environments. Understanding of Operational Technology (OT) and shop‑floor IT needs.
Scripting & Automation: Proficiency with PowerShell, Bash, or Python for system automation and audit logging.
Cloud & Directory Services: Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration, Entra ID (Azure AD), and cloud hybrid networking.
Certifications are a plus: Relevant certifications such as VMware VCP, Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Linux+, or Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator
