Job summary

Elentec Malaysia seeks a seasoned Material Department Lead to oversee material planning, inventory control, warehousing and logistics. You will develop material plans aligned with production schedules and customer demand while ensuring uninterrupted production by maintaining material availability.

You will coordinate with Purchasing and suppliers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive improvements in SOPs, cost reduction, and KPI reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Experience in material management, supply chain, production planning, warehouse or manufacturing operations.
• Previous managerial or department-head experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Material Department, including material planning, inventory control, warehousing and logistics.
• Develop material plans based on production schedules, customer demand and inventory requirements.
• Ensure sufficient raw materials and components are available to support production without interruption.
• Monitor inventory levels and prevent shortages, excess stock and obsolescence.
• Coordinate with Purchasing and suppliers on delivery schedules, shortages, delays and urgent needs.
• Collaborate with Production, Planning, Quality, Engineering and other departments to resolve material-related issues.
• Monitor supplier delivery performance and take corrective action when needed.
• Oversee incoming materials, storage, material issuance and stock movement.
• Ensure ERP/MRP records are accurate and reconciled with physical stock.
• Lead stock counts, cycle counts and audits.
• Identify opportunities to reduce material costs, inventory holding costs and wastage.
• Establish and improve SOPs for material planning, inventory management, warehousing and material handling.
• Prepare and review material-related reports, KPIs, shortages and delivery performance.
• Manage and develop the Material Department team, including assigning responsibilities and training.
• Ensure compliance with policies, safety, quality standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in material management, supply chain, production planning, warehouse, or manufacturing operations.
• Previous experience in a managerial or department-head position is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of material planning, inventory control, warehouse management, and production requirements.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, planning, and decision-making skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills, especially when working with suppliers and cross-functional departments.
• Ability to manage urgent material shortages and changing production priorities.
