Talent Trader Group in Kulai, Johor, Malaysia is seeking a Material Control Engineer (Logistics/Packaging) to drive packaging engineering, optimize shop-floor material flow, design warehouse layouts and support automation projects. You will use AutoCAD, data analytics tools, and lean methods to maximize space, throughput, and compliance across the plant.
Responsibilities include designing protective packaging, conducting tests, applying Lean principles, planning automation, and ensuring safety
The Material Control Engineer (Logistics/Packaging) will drive packaging engineering, shop-floor material flow optimization, warehouse layout design, and warehouse automation projects. Reporting to the PMC Manager, this technical role is responsible for engineering protective packaging for sensitive raw materials, sub-assemblies, and finished goods, while maximizing space utilization and material throughput across the plant.
Utilizing AutoCAD, data visualization tools, and industrial engineering methodologies, you will design efficient material supermarkets, optimize internal logistics routing, plan warehouse automation initiatives (AGVs, conveyors, WMS integration), and ensure all facility storage layouts comply with local regulatory safety standards and industrial fire codes.
1. Packaging Engineering & Testing
Packaging Design: Specify, design, and validate protective packaging solutions (returnable racks, dunnage, corrugated materials, ESD packaging) for sensitive raw materials, in-process sub-assemblies, and finished goods.
Quality & Transport Testing: Conduct drop, vibration, and stacking tests to prevent transit damage, optimize container loading density, and reduce packaging waste.
2. Layout Optimization & Material Flow Engineering
AutoCAD Engineering: Design and optimize plant layout flows, internal material routes, warehouse racking, and shop-floor material supermarkets using AutoCAD.
Intralogistics Efficiency: Apply Lean manufacturing principles (5S, Kanban, Milk Run systems) to streamline material delivery from receiving to production lines, minimizing material handling touches and travel distance.
3. Automation & System Engineering
Automation Implementation: Plan and support internal warehouse automation projects, including Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), smart roller conveyors, automated storage systems, and advanced Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
Data & Process Analytics: Track logistics performance metrics and space utilization trends using data tools (e.g., MS Excel, Power BI) to drive continuous throughput improvements.
4. Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all warehouse layout designs, aisle clearances, material handling protocols, and hazardous storage zones strictly comply with local industrial safety standards, environmental guidelines, and building/fire safety codes (e.g., UBBL / Fire Department regulations).
Academic Credentials: Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
Professional Tenure: Proven track record in industrial engineering, packaging design, or plant logistics engineering within a manufacturing or automotive components environment.
Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (2D plant layout design), Microsoft Excel, and data visualization/analytics software (e.g., Power BI).
Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of factory intralogistics flows, material supermarket design, packaging material properties, Incoterms, and factory EHS regulations.
