Job summary

SHIN‑NIPPON INDUSTRIES SDN. BHD. in Tampoi, Johor Bahru, Malaysia is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to ensure smooth operation of our facilities and equipment.

This full-time role focuses on diagnosing faults, implementing preventive maintenance, and coordinating with contractors to keep production running efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3–5 years of experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Maintenance Engineer or similar role.
• Knowledge of maintenance principles including predictive and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and schematics (ladder diagrams).
• Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot faults on machines and equipment using ladder diagrams.
• Modify machine functions to stop feeders when defects are detected.
• Attend to equipment failures and implement corrective actions to restore production.
• Study unplanned breakdown trends and address repetitive issues.
• Supervise technicians in preventive maintenance and record-keeping.
• Monitor progress, implement corrective action plans, and report findings.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers for parts and services.
• Ensure maintenance is conducted as per schedule and revise as needed.
• Share skills and knowledge within the team.

Job description

We are seeking a talented Maintenance Engineer to join our team at SHIN‑NIPPON INDUSTRIES SDN. BHD. in Tampoi, Johor Bahru, Johor. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our facilities and equipment. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out troubleshooting or diagnosing faults (base on ladder diagram) on the machines and equipment.
• Able to do modification on machine function such as to make machine feeder stop when defect detected.
• Promptly attend to process equipment and machineries failure for investigation and corrective action to ensure speedily restoration of normal plant production.
• Able to study unplanned machine breakdown trend and attend to any repeated or critical issue.
• Supervising technicians in carrying preventive maintenance, support work optimization and ensure maintenance record is kept in order.
• Monitor and track all problems progress, expedite correction action plans and timely report.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers to negotiate for parts and services.
• Ensure preventive maintenance been conduct as per schedule and revise whenever need.
• Seeks opportunity to synergize and sharing skills and knowledge among team members.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Maintenance Engineer or in a similar role
• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of maintenance principles, including predictive and preventative maintenance techniques
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, manuals, and schematics (e.g ladder diagram, familiar with PLC programmed and troubleshooting)
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make data-driven decisions
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance
