Job summary

Malayan Flour Mills Berhad in Malaysia is seeking a dedicated laboratory QA technician to perform routine testing on milling, batching, packing samples and raw materials, following SOPs. You will inspect incoming raw materials, production processes and bulk loading, maintain accurate records, report non-conformances, and assist NCR/SCAR actions with cross‑functional teams.

You will support HACCP, HALAL, GMP, 5S, audits, and continuous quality improvement while ensuring equipment is well

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory testing on milling, batching, packing samples, raw materials and finished products according to SOPs and testing parameters.
• Conduct inspection and quality checks on incoming raw materials, pre-stage pallets, production processes and bulk loading activities.
• Record, maintain and file laboratory test results, inspection records, checklists, reports and other quality documentation accurately.
• Identify and report quality defects, abnormalities or non-conformance issues promptly for action.
• Assist in NCR/SCAR issuance and follow-up, including product hold and corrective actions with departments.
• Perform additional laboratory testing and analysis as assigned (competitor flour analysis, R&D, customer complaints).
• Support HACCP, FSSC 22000, HALAL, GMP and Good Laboratory Practice programs.
• Assist in audit preparation for internal and customer certifications.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and identify recurring quality issues.
• Ensure laboratory equipment and facilities are maintained and report defects promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and 5S in the laboratory and work area.
• Comply with company policies, safety procedures, hygiene requirements and workplace regulations.
• Perform other duties as directed by Management.

Job description

Perform routine laboratory testing on milling, batching, packing samples, raw materials and finished products according to established SOPs and testing parameters in a timely and accurate manner.

Conduct inspection and quality checks on incoming raw materials, pre-stage pallets, production processes and bulk loading activities to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.

Record, maintain and file laboratory test results, inspection records, checklists, reports, graphs and other quality-related documentation accurately.

Identify and report any quality defects, abnormalities or non-conformance issues to the superior promptly for further action.

Assist in the issuance and follow-up of NCR / SCAR, including product hold, investigation, corrective action and coordination with relevant departments such as Production, Silo, Warehouse and Quality.

Perform additional laboratory testing and analysis as assigned, including competitor flour analysis, flour streaming studies, customer complaints, R&D activities and other evaluation work.

Support the implementation and maintenance of food safety and quality management systems, including HACCP, FSSC 22000, HALAL, GMP and Good Laboratory Practice.

Assist in audit preparation and activities for internal audits, customer audits, certification audits and other applicable audits.

Participate in quality improvement activities and assist in identifying recurring quality issues and areas for improvement.

Ensure laboratory equipment and facilities are maintained in good condition and report any equipment defects or breakdowns promptly.

Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of the laboratory and work area, and participate in 5S activities.

Comply with all company policies, safety procedures, hygiene requirements and workplace regulations at all times.

Perform any other duties and assignments as directed by Management from time to time.
