Job summary

Malayan Flour Mills Berhad (MFM) is seeking a Food Safety Officer to support the Food Safety Management System, Halal compliance, and audits. Responsibilities include maintaining documentation, coordinating with the safety team, and assisting in external and internal audits.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field, with 1–2 years’ experience; fresh graduates are welcome and on-the-job training is provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Food Science, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience; exposure to FSSC, HACCP, and HALAL standards is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Food Safety Management System in compliance with regulatory, Halal management and customer requirements.
• Be a member of the food safety team; facilitate communication within the team meetings.
• Assist in HALAL audits and coordinate system documentation to HALAL requirements.
• Check CCP and OPRP reports; arrange CCP and OPRP refreshment training.
• Issue NCRs and SCARs for non-conforming materials and follow up corrective actions.
• Monitor and manage controlled documents and specifications updates.
• Assist in coordinating external and internal audits.
• Arrange bi-weekly GMP on-site audit scheduling and follow-up.
• Coordinate training for revised or new procedures with owners.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline

Job description

To maintain Food Safety Management System in compliance of regulatory, Halal Management and customer requirements.

To be a member in food safety team, to assist in facilitating communication within food safety team meeting. To record and update any changes regarding FSMS which are made and initiated by food safety team.

To assist in HALAL audit and communication in coordinating the system documentation to be aligned to HALAL requirement.

To check at CCP and OPRP report. To arrange for CCP and OPRP refreshment training.

To issue NCR and SCAR for non-conformance materials and follow up at the corrective and preventive action.

To monitor the distributed controlled documentation within the company.

To maintain and ensure the internal and external documents or specifications are updated.

To assist in supporting and coordinating external and internal audits.

To arrange schedule and follow up for bi-weekly GMP audit (QA on-site audit).

To liaise with document or procedure owner in providing proper training or briefing for revised or new procedure.

To arrange calibration for all measuring instrument and metal detector. To update calibration master list.

To assist for external lab testing - sewage water test, water test, free sales cert testing, scheduled waste, finished goods testing (microbe, aflatoxin, DON, heavy metal, pesticide residual, air testing, benzoic acid, vitamin test, radioactive).

To support and participate all the food safety management system activities and workplace safety awareness.

To perform any other tasks and assignments as directed by the management from time to time.

Job Requirements:

Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.

1-2 years of relevant experience; exposure to FSSC, HACCP, and HALAL standards is an added advantage.
