Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organise ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning.
• Assist chefs with food preparation under supervision.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen surfaces, equipment and storage.
• Washing and sanitising kitchen equipment according to food safety standards.
• Support stock management by receiving, storing and rotating ingredients.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of kitchen stations during service.
• Follow all food safety regulations to ensure a safe kitchen.
• Perform general kitchen duties and support the team during busy periods.
• Report equipment issues or safety concerns to senior staff.

About the role

Oh My Duck! is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic culinary team in Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position based at our central kitchen location. As Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our head chefs and kitchen staff, ensuring smooth operations and maintaining the highest standards of food preparation and kitchen hygiene. This position is essential to delivering the exceptional dining experiences our guests expect from Oh My Duck!.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and organising ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning
• Assisting chefs with food preparation tasks under their direction and guidance
• Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of all kitchen areas, including work surfaces, equipment and storage areas
• Washing and sanitising kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, pans and dishes according to food safety standards
• Supporting stock management by receiving, storing and rotating ingredients appropriately
• Assisting with the setup and breakdown of kitchen stations during service
• Following all food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a safe kitchen environment
• Performing general kitchen duties and supporting the team as required during busy service periods
• Reporting any equipment maintenance issues or safety concerns to senior kitchen staff

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working in a kitchen environment is preferred, but we welcome enthusiastic candidates willing to learn
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness
• Positive attitude, reliability and willingness to work as part of a team
• Good communication skills and ability to take direction from senior staff
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
• Basic knowledge of knife skills and food preparation techniques would be preferred
