Job summary

Farben Information Technology is seeking an IT Operations Engineer to support the day-to-day stability, maintenance, and readiness of data center infrastructure in Malaysia. You will work on server hardware across Windows, Linux, and Unix, troubleshoot issues, and participate in a 24/7 rotating shift schedule.

Experience in data centers is preferred, with Mandarin being helpful for client communication. Proficiency in English is required; willingness to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; 1–2 years at technician level also considered.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to work a 24/7 rotating shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operational readiness of data center infrastructure, including routine inspections of servers and power systems.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot server hardware across Windows, Linux, and Unix environments.
• Diagnose and resolve server and storage-related issues.
• Support physical infrastructure maintenance within the data center environment.
• Respond to operational incidents and unexpected infrastructure failures.

About the Role

We are currently hiring on behalf of a technology and operations solutions company supporting large-scale infrastructure, enterprise systems, and digital operations across Asia. The organization works with global clients to deliver reliable IT support, infrastructure management, and operational excellence in mission-critical environments.

This role focuses on IT Operations, supporting the day-to-day stability, maintenance, and operational readiness of critical data center infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure operational readiness of data center infrastructure, including routine inspections of servers and power systems

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot server hardware across Windows, Linux, and Unix environments

Diagnose and resolve server and storage-related issues

Support physical infrastructure maintenance within the data center environment

Respond to operational incidents and unexpected infrastructure failures

Renewable contract

Primary Location: Johor (Kuala Lumpur also available)

Rotating shift requirements

Shift Schedule

Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Night Shift: 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM

Pattern: 2 days on duty, then 2 days off, rotating between day and night shifts

Job Requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (1–2 years' experience at technician level also considered)

Minimum 3 years of experience in server, storage, or infrastructure maintenance

Experience in Data Centers or Internet Data Centers (IDC) is an advantage

Proficient in English, written and spoken; Mandarin is a nice-to-have. We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.

Detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills

Willing to work under a 24/7 rotating shift schedule

Comfortable working in fast-paced, mission-critical operational environments
