Job summary

Farben Information Technology in Malaysia is seeking a Facilities Management Engineer to support the operations and maintenance of mission-critical data center infrastructure. You will manage electrical and mechanical systems, coordinate preventive maintenance, and respond to faults in high-availability environments.

The role requires hands-on MEP experience, strong safety practices, and English or Malay proficiency (Mandarin is a plus).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years in large-scale data center operations or 5+ years facilities management in large-scale environments.
• Hands-on experience with MEP systems: UPS, generators, chillers, pumps, cooling towers.

Responsibilities

• Manage operational readiness of critical data center infrastructure systems.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and emergency fault response.
• Monitor power distribution, cooling systems, and infrastructure capacity.
• Identify and mitigate availability risks and drive issue resolution.
• Lead reliability improvements and energy optimization initiatives.
• Support IT Manager with day-to-day operations and infra projects.
• Assist with design, construction, commissioning and setup of new data center facilities.
• Collaborate with COLO service providers on electrical and mechanical infra.
• Monitor maintenance of UPS, generators, chillers, pumps, cooling towers.
• Evaluate vendor performance and optimize SLA delivery.
• Work with procurement and stakeholders to optimize SLA performance.
• Analyze operational data and prepare infrastructure performance reports.

About the Role

We are looking for a Facilities Management Engineer to support the operations and maintenance of mission-critical data center infrastructure. This role suits professionals with strong experience in data center operations, facilities management, or critical infrastructure engineering who are comfortable managing electrical and mechanical systems in high-availability environments.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the operational readiness of critical data center infrastructure systems

Handle change management, preventive maintenance coordination, and emergency fault response

Monitor and manage infrastructure capacity, including power distribution and cooling systems

Identify and mitigate infrastructure availability risks and drive issue resolution

Lead initiatives to improve system reliability, efficiency, and energy optimization

Support the IT Manager in day-to-day operations and infrastructure projects

Assist with design, construction, commissioning, and setup of new data center facilities and server rooms

Collaborate with colocation (COLO) service providers on electrical and mechanical infrastructure

Monitor maintenance of UPS systems, generators, chillers, pumps, and cooling towers

Evaluate vendor and COLO service performance and recommend improvements

Work with procurement and internal stakeholders to optimize SLA performance

Analyze operational data and prepare infrastructure performance reports

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline

Minimum 3 years of experience in large-scale data center operations or critical infrastructure management, or minimum 5 years of facilities management experience in large-scale industrial or production environments

Hands-on experience with MEP systems: UPS, generators, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, power distribution

Strong understanding of operational safety standards and risk management

Proficient in English or Malay, written and spoken

Mandarin proficiency is an advantage

Detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills

Comfortable working in fast-paced, mission-critical operational environments
