About the role
TATSUNO ENGINEERING & SERVICE MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. is seeking a dedicated HSSE Assistant/Executive to join our Health, Safety & Environment team. This is a full-time position based in Seri Kembangan, Selangor. In this pivotal role, you will support the development, implementation and monitoring of health, safety and environmental policies and procedures across our operations in the oil & gas sector. You will play a crucial part in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the HSSE team in implementing company HSSE policies, procedures, programs and initiatives across office, workshop, warehouse and project sites.
- Conduct routine workplace and site inspections to identify unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, environmental concerns and opportunities for improvement. Follow up with the relevant personnel on corrective actions.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining HSSE documentation, including risk assessments, JHA/JSA/HIRADC, Method Statements, Toolbox Meeting records, inspection checklists, incident reports, training records and other HSSE documents.
- Assist in conducting toolbox meetings, safety briefings, HSSE campaigns, awareness programs and other safety activities for employees and technicians.
- Monitor PPE and safety equipment requirements and assist in ensuring that employees are provided with suitable and serviceable PPE.
- Assist with incident, near miss and unsafe act/unsafe condition reporting and investigations. Support the implementation and follow up of corrective and preventive actions.
- Assist in monitoring environmental controls, including preventing fuel spills, proper waste management, chemical handling and emergency spill response requirements.
- Support emergency preparedness activities, including emergency response drills, inspecting emergency equipment and maintaining emergency response records.
- Assist in internal HSSE audits and inspections and support the preparation of documents and evidence required for external and client audits.
- Maintain HSSE records, ensuring documents are properly updated, filed and readily available for reference.
- Assist in monitoring compliance with applicable legal requirements, company HSSE procedures, ISO 45001 requirements and client HSSE standards.
- Support HSSE reporting by preparing regular statistics, summaries, presentations and updates for management and clients.
- Assist in monitoring project activities to ensure work is carried out in accordance with approved JHA/JSA, Method Statements, Risk Assessments and HSSE requirements.
- Support the HSSE team in tracking and closing corrective actions arising from inspections, audits, incidents, observations and management reviews.
- Assist in monitoring contractor HSSE performance and ensuring contractors comply with company and client HSSE requirements.
- Assist in monitoring safety equipment, fire extinguishers, first aid boxes, spill kits, emergency equipment and other HSSE facilities to ensure they are available, properly maintained and within inspection validity.
- Assist in organizing HSSE awareness campaigns, safety moments, safety bulletins, posters and communication materials.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and external health and safety consultants as required
- Any ad-hoc tasks assigned by the superior.
What we're looking for
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent health and safety qualifications are the added advantage
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian health and safety legislation and industry standards
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify hazards and risks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with health and safety management systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to health and safety management
- Valid driving licence is preferred
- Previous experience in the oil & gas sector is highly desirable
