Job summary

Hextar Mitai Sdn Bhd, a local EPCC company, invites experienced Safety Officers to join the project organization in Malaysia. The role leads Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) and drives continuous improvement in occupational safety and health across sites.

Qualifications

• Valid Green Book (Safety & Health Officer) or Yellow Book (Site Safety Supervisor) with DOSH registration.
• At least 5 years of working experience in a similar field.
• English and Bahasa Malaysia; reading/writing Chinese an added advantage.
• Good communication and analytical skills; proactive and solution-minded.
• Able to liaise with all levels and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead EHS within the Project Organization and drive safety improvements.
• Develop and implement a systematic safety management system in the workplace.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for all sites in Malaysia.
• Advise the employer and EHS Committee on safety measures.
• Investigate accidents, near-misses, and occupational diseases; report findings.
• Assist EHS Committee in site inspections; collect and analyze injury data.
• Submit SHO monthly reports and regulatory/performance metrics.
• Review site facility layouts for life-safety and EHS compliance.
• Develop, plan and implement EHS procedures aligned with company policies.

Job description

To lead the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) within the Project Organization

Continuously improve the level of occupational safety & health

Create an effective & systematic safety management system at the workplace

Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements for all sites in Malaysia

Advise the employer, EHS Committee Chairperson or any person in charge of the workplace on measures to be taken in the interest of safety

Investigate any accident, near miss accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning or occupational disease

Assist the EHS Committee in any inspection of the place of work

Collect, analyse and maintain any statistics on occurrence of accidents / disease

Submission of SHO monthly report as per requirement of the OSHA regulations

Participate in the review of site facility layouts, designs and modifications with regard to life safety requirements, applicable codes, regulations, and equipment/tool EHS requirements

Develop, plan and implement site environmental, health and safety procedures/programs and ensure alignment with Company's EHS Policies, goals, objectives and customer requirements

Ensure appropriate corrective action is taken where environmental, health and safety hazards exist

Submit accurate regulatory and performance metric reports as required

Requirements:

Valid Green Book (Safety & Health Officer, SHO) or Yellow Book (Site Safety Supervisor, SSS) holder registered with the Malaysia Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH)

At least 5 years of working experience in similar field

Required language(s): English, Bahasa Malaysia; Able to speak and read/write Chinese is an added advantage
