Job summary
Bagan Specialist Centre Sdn. Bhd. seeks a seasoned Facilities and Biomedical Engineering leader to oversee daily operations, safety and maintenance of critical hospital systems.
You will direct multidisciplinary teams, manage contracts, and drive continuous improvement across facilities and patient-care support services. You will ensure regulatory compliance, develop budgets, and coordinate with departments to meet service standards and cost-efficiency goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or facilities management.
- Minimum 5 years in facilities management or hospital support services with supervisory experience.
- Experience in hospital or healthcare environments preferred.
- CFHM certification or healthcare facilities management certifications are a plus.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams and vendors is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of building maintenance and preventive maintenance systems.
- Familiarity with MSQH Standard 3 and safety regulations is a plus.

Lead Facilities Management and Biomedical Engineering teams in preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Ensure the reliability of critical hospital infrastructure, including electrical, HVAC, water supply, medical gas, fire protection and other essential systems.
Plan and monitor annual maintenance schedules, facility inspections and improvement projects.
Lead technical investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment failures and system breakdowns.
Ensure proper maintenance records, technical reports and statutory documentation.
Oversee the maintenance, safety and operational readiness of hospital biomedical equipment.
Ensure equipment maintenance, testing and calibration comply with regulatory requirements and manufacturer recommendations.
Monitor equipment performance, breakdown trends, maintenance schedules and service contracts.
Oversee hospital support services, including housekeeping, linen, security, waste management and other assigned functions.
Monitor outsourced service providers to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, service level agreements (SLAs) and hospital standards.
Conduct regular service inspections and performance reviews to maintain service quality and operational efficiency.
Coordinate with clinical and non-clinical departments to address operational needs and implement service improvements.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, hospital policies and healthcare accreditation standards, particularly MSQH Standard 3 - Facility and Biomedical Equipment Management.
Coordinate statutory inspections, equipment certifications and renewal of relevant permits and licences.
Develop and review departmental policies, SOPs, emergency response plans and business continuity procedures.
Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, incident investigations and quality improvement activities.
Maintain proper documentation and ensure continuous readiness for regulatory inspections and hospital accreditation.
Plan and manage departmental OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
Monitor maintenance costs, utility consumption, service contracts and overall departmental expenditure.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising safety, service quality or regulatory compliance.
Evaluate vendor performance, quotations and maintenance contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Analyse departmental performance and prepare management reports, budget proposals and presentations.
Lead, supervise and develop the Hospital Support Services team to achieve departmental objectives.
Plan manpower requirements, duty rosters, work allocation and staff development programmes.
Establish and monitor departmental KPIs, conduct performance evaluations and implement improvement plans.
Ensure effective coordination between technical teams, support services, clinical departments, contractors and hospital management.
Undertake other duties, projects and assignments as directed by hospital management.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Facilities Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in facilities management, engineering, building maintenance or hospital support services, with experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Prior working experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
- Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CFHM) certification is highly preferred.
- Candidates with relevant professional certifications in healthcare facilities management, engineering or hospital support services will have an added advantage.
- Experience in managing multidisciplinary technical teams, outsourced service providers and hospital support services will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of building maintenance, mechanical and electrical systems, preventive maintenance and facilities management.
- Familiarity with biomedical equipment management and the operational requirements of healthcare facilities.
- Knowledge of relevant statutory requirements, occupational safety, fire safety and healthcare accreditation standards.
- Familiarity with MSQH Standard 3 - Facility and Biomedical Equipment Management will be an added advantage.
- Experience in managing OPEX, CAPEX, maintenance contracts, vendor performance and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct technical investigations and implement effective corrective actions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, operational data analysis, report preparation and management presentations.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams effectively.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive, resourceful and results-oriented, with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
