Job summary

Regency Specialist Hospital Sdn Bhd in Johor Bahru is seeking an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager to lead the Operation Theatre team. You will provide clinical leadership, supervise nursing staff, ensure infection control and documentation standards, and collaborate with surgeons and anaesthetists to maintain high-quality theatre operations.

The role emphasizes mentoring, equipment oversight, incident management, and participation in continuous improvement within the theatre department.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Malaysian Nursing Board or equivalent professional nursing registration.
• Minimum 5 years' nursing experience with ≥3 years in operating theatre/perioperative environments.
• Proven supervisory or leadership experience or readiness to transition into leadership.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage nursing team within the OTT, including allocation of duties, scheduling, and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with infection control standards, sterilisation protocols, and safety regulations within the theatre environment.
• Maintain comprehensive nursing documentation and theatre records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
• Provide clinical guidance and mentoring, fostering professional development and best practice.
• Monitor and maintain theatre equipment, ensuring instruments and machinery are in optimal working condition.
• Liaise with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other members of the surgical team to ensure smooth theatre operations.
• Respond to and manage theatre-related incidents, complaints, and operational challenges with professionalism and efficiency.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and quality assurance programmes within the theatre department.
• Maintain a safe and supportive work environment that prioritises patient dignity, staff welfare, and team collaboration.

About the role
Regency Medical Care Centre (RMCC) is seeking an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager, Operation Theatre (OTT) to join our dedicated theatre team. In this pivotal role, you will provide clinical leadership and support to nursing team within our OTT environment, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care and maintaining the highest standards of theatre operations.

Key responsibilities

Supervise and manage nursing team within the OTT, including allocation of duties, scheduling, and performance management

Ensure compliance with infection control standards, sterilisation protocols, and safety regulations within the theatre environment

What we're looking for

Current registration with the Malaysian Nursing Board or equivalent professional nursing registration

Minimum of 5 years' nursing experience, with at least 3 years' experience working in an operating theatre or perioperative environment

Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity, or demonstrated readiness to transition into a leadership role

Advanced knowledge of theatre operations, including surgical procedures, equipment management, and infection control protocols

Strong understanding of patient safety principles and the ability to implement safety measures consistently

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams

Proficiency in medical documentation and electronic health record systems

Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification or willingness to obtain certification

Exceptional organisational and time management abilities, with capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound clinical decisions under pressure

Knowledge of current Malaysian healthcare regulations and hospital accreditation standards is advantageous
