Job summary

Jesselton Medical Centre Sdn Bhd in Kota Kinabalu seeks a State Registered Nurse with LJM and APC to join our clinical team. The role requires willingness to work shifts, float among services, and provide high standard nursing care under mentorship.

You will adhere to hospital SOPs, maintain confidentiality, participate in nursing service activities, and contribute to quality improvement while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications

• State Registered Nurse with Lembaga Jururawat Malaysia (LJM).

Responsibilities

• Work on shift duties with mentorship tagging and patient care.
• Follow nursing care plans and deliver prescribed nursing care.
• Provide holistic care using Nursing Process approaches.
• Record patient observations and communicate changes to the Head Nurse.
• Assist in admissions, transfers and discharges.

Job description

State Registered Nurse with Lembaga Jururawat Malaysia (LJM).

Responsible to and function under the supervision Nurse Manager / Deputy Nurse Manager / Acting Nurse Manager / Staff Nurse In-Charge and Preceptor / Mentor.

Demonstrate knowledge of Principles, method and techniques of performing standard nursing practices under supervision an mentorships.

Maintains good and courteous relationship with the co-workers, patients, their families, visitors and other department staff in the hospital and practice professional effective communication.

Understands the philosophy, objective, policies and standards of the hospital, nursing department and comply with proper channel of command.

Maintain and keeps private and confidentiality of client / patient and co-workers personal and medical records / history.

Duties And Responsibilities

CLINICAL

• Work on shift duties as per unit schedule with mentee-mentorship tagging task and assigned patient care and assessment.
• Function under the supervision mentee-mentorship with limitation of Registered Nurse Job Description
• Follow a nursing care plan formulated by a qualified nurse and deliver nursing care as prescribed within the confines of the role, eg assisting patients to wash, dress, aiding patients to the toilet and helping feed, etc.
• Progressive achievement with the Mentorship supervision, enhancing most safe patient care practices and able to achieve ward/unit/specialized unit standard care workforce requirement.
• Provide individualized holistic care to patient using Nursing Process approaches.
• Specific Task under supervisory of 6 months calendar and had a series of skills and competency assessment to confirmed competent for independence functions without / with minimal supervision.
• Handling (DDA Drugs) Narcotic and Control Substances
• Preparation of Administration Mediation
• Nursing Documentation
• Performing Procedure with supervision such as: NGT Insertion and Feeding / Peripheral Venous Cannulation and others nursing privileging.
• Function and Provider patient care under supervision and mentorship.
• Assist in the qualified nurse to monitor and evaluate care by informing him/her of any changes in the patient's condition, by recording in patient's record as appropriate.
• Lead patients requiring special investigations to other departments both within the hospital and to other hospital.
• Assist in admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
• Collect specimens of urine, sputum and fasces as requested and ensure specimen labels are correctly complete prior to sending them to the Lab and collect result back to the ward.
• Attend daily ward / unit report when on duty.
• Assist to clear the trolley after use. Wash and place all instruments in the appropriate place.
• Ensure cleanliness of unit, pantry, treatment room, utility room and linen room.
• Assist in cleaning and changing lotion on dressing trolley and suction machine, send and collects CSSD items, etc.
• Cleans and tidies the medication fridge.
• under supervision of a qualified nurse serve food and drink to patients. Assist to monitor the patient's daily nutritional intake and report any deficiencies.
• Communicate effectively and professionally when using the telephone or when talking directly to patients, relatives, careers or other members of staff and answer phone calls and relay messages.
• Informs Nursing Services Manager / Staff Nurse in Charge off patient's valuables and belongings for safe keeping.
• Respect the patient's spiritual needs and their right to privacy and dignity at all times. And, all aspects of confidentiality.
• Take and record patient observations as requested by the Head Nurse/Nurse in charge, ensuring you report any abnormalities immediately.
• Carries any other duties under the supervision and mentorship when instructed by the Nursing Services Manager / Nurse Manager / Charge Nurse especially during emergency and carry out other roles requested by the qualified staff.
• Attend an annual Individual Performance Review and contribute to setting your own objectives and identifying training and development needs required to do the job.
• Assist in Maintains adequate supply of ward stock.
