Job summary

The Good Club in Kota Kinabalu seeks a General Manager to run day-to-day operations of our pickleball and padel venue, including courts, a café, the pro shop and events. Lead staff rostering, budgets, and guest experiences while maintaining safety and licensing compliance.

You will act as the primary contact during Management's absence and ensure service standards, with availability across peak hours, evenings, weekends, and tournament days.

Qualifications

• Experience managing operations in hospitality, sports/recreation venue, or retail.
• Strong ownership mindset with ability to run the venue solo for stretches.
• Clear, proactive communicator who flags issues early.
• Sound judgment under time pressure within defined authority.
• Available across peak hours, including evenings, weekends, and events.

• Manage and schedule venue staff (pro shop, duty/court staff), covering shifts.
• Own the member and guest experience: bookings, check-in flow, disputes, service standards.
• Coordinate with café operator on shared areas, events, and hygiene/operating requirements.
• Support on-site delivery of sponsorship activations and community events per calendar.
• Manage day-to-day vendor relationships (maintenance, cleaning, security) within approved budget.
• Monitor court and pro shop performance against operating budget and flag variances.
• Uphold licensing, insurance, and safety/compliance on-site.
• Act as the primary contact during Management's absence.

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the day-to-day running of The Good Club - a pickleball and padel venue in Kota Kinabalu comprising 9 pickleball courts, 1 padel court, a café operated by a third-party tenant, and a pro shop. The General Manager leads day-to-day operations across courts, café coordination, pro shop, and events, ensuring the venue runs to a consistently high standard under their direct oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations across courts, pro shop, café coordination, and on-site events
• Manage and schedule venue staff (pro shop, duty/court staff), covering shift swaps and day-to-day rostering
• Own the member and guest experience: bookings, check-in flow, dispute resolution, and service standards
• Coordinate with the café operator on shared common areas, event days, and hygiene/operating requirements
• Support on-site delivery of sponsorship activations and community events per the annual calendar
• Manage day-to-day vendor relationships (maintenance, cleaning, security) within approved budget
• Monitor court and pro shop performance against the operating budget and flag variances
• Uphold licensing, insurance, and safety/compliance requirements on-site
• Act as the primary point of contact for the venue during Management's absence
