Job summary

Pingspace is seeking a hands-on Support Engineer to respond to automation system issues at customer sites in Penang/Kuala Lumpur and beyond. You will diagnose, fix, or coordinate fixes for robots, conveyors, and WMS/WCS software, ensuring minimal downtime and smooth operation.

The role blends mechanical, electrical, and software troubleshooting, with remote support as needed and occasional travel. Night shifts and on-call rotation are part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Automation, Computer Science, or a related field (equivalent hands‑on experience also considered)
• Working knowledge of at least one of: PLCs, sensors/actuators, conveyor or robotic systems, industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.)
• Comfort reading basic system logs or working with software support tools (full software development skills not required)
• Strong troubleshooting instincts — able to stay methodical under pressure when a customer's line is down
• Willingness to travel to customer sites (Klang Valley and beyond) and work a shift rotation, including nights and weekends
• Clear communicator — both with customers under stress and with internal engineering teams
• A valid driver's license (own transport preferred for site visits)
• Nice to have: Prior experience supporting warehouse/logistics automation, AS/RS systems, or industrial robotics
• Experience with WMS or WCS software (order management, inventory systems)
• Basic scripting or database query skills (SQL) for diagnosing software‑side issues

Responsibilities

• Respond to support tickets across Matrix ASRS hardware, robots/shuttles, conveyors, put‑walls, and WMS/WCS software
• Diagnose issues onsite or remotely, distinguishing hardware faults, software/configuration issues, network problems, and operator error
• Perform first‑line fixes (component swaps, sensor recalibration, restarts, config changes) and escalate when needed
• Carry out preventive maintenance checks and scheduled servicing at customer sites to reduce unplanned downtime
• Log all incidents, root causes, and resolutions to help engineering and product teams
• Communicate directly with customer operations staff during incidents with clear updates
• Support system commissioning and go‑live for new customer installations with engineering teams
• Participate in an on‑call / shift rotation, including night shifts
• Contribute to a growing knowledge base of known issues and fixes
