Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Field Service Engineer to deliver high-quality field services and act as a trusted technical advisor to customers across utilities, power generation, and industrial sectors in Malaysia. You will install, commission, test, maintain, and troubleshoot power systems, travel extensively (60–70%), and build lasting customer relationships while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance.

English proficiency is essential, and collaboration with project teams and sales

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-8 years of field service experience.
• Experience with transformers, switchgear, substations, protection systems, high-voltage equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting in live customer environments.
• Experience engaging directly with customers, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel extensively domestically and internationally.
• Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Execute field service activities including installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and modernization of power and energy systems.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues and minimizing equipment downtime.
• Serve as the primary technical interface with customers during service visits, outages, commissioning activities, and troubleshooting assignments.
• Develop strong customer relationships through professional communication, responsiveness, and technical expertise.
• Analyze equipment performance and recommend maintenance strategies, upgrades, and improvement opportunities that enhance asset reliability and lifecycle value.
• Identify customer challenges and collaborate with sales and service teams to develop technical solutions that address customer needs.
• Support business growth by recognizing and communicating potential service, upgrade, spare parts, modernization, and lifecycle management opportunities.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, root-cause analysis findings, and service recommendations.
• Lead or support site activities, including supervision of subcontractors and coordination of customer representatives.
• Ensure all activities are executed in compliance with Hitachi Energy safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and trainees in developing technical and customer management skills.
• Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share lessons learned across the organization.
• Travel extensively (approximately 60-70%) based on customer and business requirements.
