Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Field Service Engineer to deliver high-quality field services and act as a trusted technical advisor to customers. You will build relationships, understand operational challenges, and propose value-adding solutions across diverse industries.

You will collaborate with customers, project teams, and sales colleagues, delivering safe, reliable service solutions while driving customer satisfaction and long-term growth. Travel will be extensive.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5-8 years in field service, commissioning, maintenance or power systems engineering.
• Experience with transformers, switchgear, substations, protection systems or similar tech.
• Strong troubleshooting in live customer environments.
• Excellent direct customer engagement with stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Execute field service activities including installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, retrofit and modernization of power and energy systems.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers, ensuring timely resolution and minimal downtime.
• Serve as the primary technical interface with customers during service visits and outages.
• Develop strong customer relationships through professional communication and technical expertise.
• Analyze equipment performance and recommend maintenance strategies and improvements.
• Identify customer challenges and collaborate with sales/service teams to develop solutions.
• Prepare technical reports and service recommendations; lead site activities with subcontractors.
• Travel extensively (60-70%) as required by customers and business needs.
