Job summary

Contacthings Solution Sdn Bhd, a Penang-based engineering company, seeks a Field Service Engineer to install, calibrate, and integrate semiconductor equipment at customer sites. You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software issues to minimize downtime and ensure performance.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, providing operator training, generating service reports in CRM/ERP, and collaborating with R&D to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical/electronic engineering, mechatronics or related field.
• 3–5 years hands-on field service or equipment engineering in semiconductor/electronics manufacturing.
• Experience reading electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&ID diagrams.
• Hands-on motion control, sensors, and robotics experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on short notice.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills in cleanroom environments.

Contacthings is a Penang-based engineering company specializing in automated test solutions, thermal control systems, and custom equipment development for the semiconductor industry. We provide end-to-end support — from test sockets and fixtures to automation equipment and instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Installation & Setup: Perform on-site installation, calibration, and integration of complex semiconductor assembly and packaging machinery.
• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software issues promptly to minimize equipment downtime.
• Preventive Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance routines, performance checks, and system upgrades to ensure optimal machine productivity and yield.
• Customer Support & Training: Serve as the primary technical interface for customers, providing operational guidance, troubleshooting assistance, and basic operator training.
• Technical Reporting: Document service activities, maintenance logs, and spare parts usage accurately using internal CRM/ERP systems.
• Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback to engineering and R&D teams regarding equipment reliability, design enhancements, and recurring field issues.

Requirements

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on field service or equipment engineering experience within the semiconductor assembly or electronics manufacturing industry.
• Strong proficiency in reading electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&ID diagrams.
• Hands-on experience with motion control systems, sensors, and robotics.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills under high‑pressure, cleanroom environments.
• Direct experience with Lid Attach / Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) placement and bonding systems.
• Familiarity with Fluxer systems utilizing piezo pump technology for precision dispensing.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; capable of managing customer expectations professionally.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on short notice to support customer sites.
