Job summary

Adecco Outsourcing Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Facilities & Maintenance Engineer to oversee plant facilities and manufacturing equipment maintenance. The role demands strong exposure to factory maintenance, troubleshooting production machinery, and leading a technical team.

You will drive preventive maintenance programs, ensure safety and reliability, and support continuous improvement projects, with close collaboration across Production, Quality and Engineering.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in manufacturing maintenance.
• Hands-on experience with production machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing factory facilities and manufacturing equipment.
• Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and safety requirements.
• Proficient in AutoCAD for plant layouts.

Job description

To oversee both plant facilities and manufacturing equipment maintenance. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone with strong exposure to factory maintenance who is comfortable troubleshooting production machinery, managing preventive maintenance activities and leading a technical team.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the reliability, safety and efficiency of the plant's facilities and production equipment while supporting continuous improvement and engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day activities of the Facilities & Maintenance function, covering plant facilities, utilities, M&E systems and production equipment.
• Ensure manufacturing machinery, equipment and building systems are maintained in a safe, reliable and efficient operating condition.
• Develop and implement preventive and planned maintenance programmes for production equipment, utilities and facility systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and work closely with technicians to identify root causes and restore equipment with minimum production disruption.
• Monitor recurring machine failures and drive corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Oversee maintenance activities involving manufacturing equipment, furnaces, testing equipment, tooling, fixtures and other supporting production systems.
• Ensure proper maintenance records, equipment history, troubleshooting procedures and technical documentation are maintained.
• Review equipment performance, downtime and maintenance trends and recommend appropriate improvement actions.
• Manage critical spare parts, maintenance materials and related procurement activities to ensure timely availability and minimise production interruptions.
• Coordinate with suppliers and external contractors for equipment servicing, repair, facility improvement and engineering works.
• Supervise and provide technical guidance to Facilities & Maintenance Technicians, including troubleshooting and maintenance-related issues.
• Support plant modification, equipment installation, layout changes, renovation and facility improvement projects.
• Maintain and update plant layouts using AutoCAD where required.
• Ensure facilities and maintenance activities comply with applicable safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
• Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering and other departments on equipment improvement, process changes and engineering projects.
• Support quality and engineering initiatives involving FMEA, SPC, APQP, PPAP and related manufacturing controls where applicable.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, enhance productivity and minimise downtime.
• Prepare regular maintenance, facilities, breakdown, procurement and engineering reports for management review.
• Utilise appropriate digital and AI-enabled tools to improve maintenance planning, data analysis, troubleshooting, reporting and overall engineering productivity.
• Perform other engineering and maintenance-related duties as assigned by management.

Your Skills

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in manufacturing maintenance, facilities engineering, process engineering or a similar engineering environment.
• Strong hands‑on experience in production machinery maintenance, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance is essential.
• Experience managing both factory facilities and manufacturing equipment will be highly advantageous.
• Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, plant utilities and industrial equipment.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment such as semiconductor, electronics, precision engineering, metal stamping, medical device or other high-volume/high-precision manufacturing will be advantageous.
• Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and relevant Malaysian safety, environmental and statutory requirements such as DOSH and DOE.
• Working knowledge of FMEA, SPC, APQP and PPAP will be an added advantage.
• Proficient in AutoCAD for plant layout and engineering‑related updates.
• Strong troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, guide and develop maintenance technicians.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple maintenance and engineering priorities.
• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams.
• Willing to provide support outside normal working hours when required, particularly for urgent equipment breakdowns or critical maintenance activities.
• Positive, proactive and hands‑on approach with strong ownership and accountability.
• Comfortable using digital and AI tools to improve productivity, engineering analysis, decision‑making and work quality, while exercising sound judgement when evaluating AI‑generated information.
