We’re Hiring: Facilities & Maintenance Technician (Contract)

Are you a hands‑on individual with experience in building maintenance and facilities operations? Join Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) as a Facilities & Maintenance Technician and play a key role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the UTM-MTDC Centre.
Key Responsibilities
1. Building Maintenance & Technical Support- Perform routine inspection and maintenance of building facilities and infrastructure.
- Carry out minor repair works, including replacement of light fittings, basic electrical works, plumbing repairs, painting, and general maintenance.
- Troubleshoot facility‑related issues and coordinate rectification works when required.
- Ensure facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and operational condition.
2. Preventive Maintenance & Facility Upkeep- Plan, coordinate, and monitor preventive maintenance schedules.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance requirements and improvement opportunities.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities and service reports.
- Monitor the condition and performance of facility assets and equipment.
3. Contractor & Service Provider Management- Coordinate and supervise contractors performing maintenance and repair works.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure works are completed according to specifications and timelines.
- Verify completed works and maintain proper documentation.
4. Procurement & Budget Administration- Assist in sourcing quotations and preparing Purchase Requisitions (PR) for maintenance‑related works and purchases.
- Monitor maintenance expenditure and ensure cost‑effective utilisation of resources.
- Assist in managing maintenance budgets and tracking expenses.
- Support payment verification and documentation processes.
- Assist in managing tender and procurement processes for services such as cleaning, landscaping, pest control, and security.
- Coordinate contract renewals and monitor service delivery performance.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement procedures and governance requirements.
- Attend to tenant complaints and maintenance requests promptly.
- Monitor rectification progress and follow up until issues are resolved.
- Ensure a high standard of service and tenant satisfaction.
7. Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015)- Support the implementation and maintenance of MTDC's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Maintain facility‑related records and documentation.
- Assist in ensuring audit readiness and compliance with ISO requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Certificate (SKM), Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Building Maintenance, Facilities Management, or related technical disciplines.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in building maintenance, facilities management, property management, or technical operations.
- Hands‑on experience in carrying out minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general repair works.
- Experience in coordinating contractors, maintenance service providers, and procurement activities.
- Basic knowledge of preventive maintenance planning and facilities operations.
- Familiarity with procurement, quotation, and tender processes is an advantage.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System is an added advantage.
- Possession of Electrical Competent Person Certification (AO/A1/A4) is an added advantage.
- Good problem‑solving, communication, and coordination skills.
- Willing to perform site‑based and hands‑on maintenance duties.
