Job summary

Maverick United Consulting Engineers, part of Leighton Asia, invites an Engineer (Plumbing & Fire Protection Design) to join our Kuala Lumpur team. You will design plumbing and fire protection systems for building projects, and deliver reliable technical documents from concept through to drawings and calculations.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering and 5–8 years of relevant experience, with strong NFPA/BS/MS knowledge and teamwork across

• Design and develop plumbing and fire protection systems with calculations and drawings.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and assessments to meet project requirements.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Architectural, and BIM teams.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and technical queries during project execution.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, standards, and local authority requirements.

Job Duties

• Design and develop plumbing and fire protection systems, including engineering calculations, specifications, and drawings.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and technical assessments to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Architectural, and BIM disciplines.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and technical queries during project execution.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and local authority requirements.
  

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in plumbing and fire protection system design within an engineering consultancy environment.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA, BS, MS, and local regulatory requirements.
• Experience in engineering design, calculations, technical documentation, and project coordination.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
