Job summary

Maverick United Consulting Engineers, based in Kuala Lumpur, invites applications for Lead Mechanical Engineer to head mechanical design for projects in the built environment. The role requires directing design teams and coordinating interfaces with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, architecture, structure and civil groups.

The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 10–15 years of design experience, deep HVAC and BIM knowledge, and a track record in design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10–15 years of mechanical engineering design experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, pumping and piping systems.
• Experience in design development, technical reviews and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Proven leadership of engineering teams and BIM coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering design scope and ensure timely delivery of high-quality design and consultancy deliverables.
• Provide technical leadership and oversee Mechanical Engineers, drafters and BIM resources.
• Coordinate mechanical design interfaces with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, structural and civil disciplines.
• Lead design reviews, constructability assessments, BIM coordination and clash-resolution activities.
• Support procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover activities, including reviewing submissions and equipment selections.

Job Duties

• Lead and manage the overall mechanical engineering design scope, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality design and consultancy deliverables.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 to 15 years of Mechanical Engineering design experience, preferably within an engineering consultancy environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, pumping, piping, and associated mechanical systems.
• Proven experience in design development, technical reviews, multidisciplinary coordination, and leading engineering teams.
• Familiarity with BIM tools such as Revit and Navisworks, and working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, BS/EN standards, and local regulations.
