Job summary

Maverick United Consulting Engineers, a Leighton Asia company, invites applications for an Engineer (Mechanical Design) in Malaysia, based at Bukit Jalil, KL. You will develop mechanical designs, drawings and specs for building projects and coordinate interfaces with other disciplines.

We seek a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering with 5–8 years of design experience, strong knowledge of HVAC, chilling, piping and BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks). Knowledge of ASHRAE/SMACNA/BS EN is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years of Mechanical Engineering design experience, preferably in consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, pumping and piping.
• Experience in design development, design reviews, coordination, and multidisciplinary delivery.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE, SMACNA, BS/EN; BIM tools such as Revit and Navisworks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, develop, and review mechanical designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, and equipment selections for projects.
• Coordinate mechanical interfaces with architectural, structural, electrical, ELV, and other building services disciplines.
• Prepare design deliverables including basis of design reports, schematics, layouts, equipment schedules, specifications, and tender documentation.
• Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and technical queries, and provide technical support during construction and installation works.
• Support testing, commissioning, equipment start-up, functional testing, and handover activities, including reviewing as-built drawings and O&M manuals.

Job Duties

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 to 8 years of Mechanical Engineering design experience, preferably within an engineering consultancy environment.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, pumping, piping, and associated mechanical systems.
• Experience in design development, design reviews, technical coordination, and multidisciplinary project delivery.
• Familiarity with relevant standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, BS/EN), BIM tools such as Revit and Navisworks, and testing & commissioning activities
