Job summary

OM Materials (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd invites applications for a Deputy Supervisor - Sample & Sampling Preparation to manage day-to-day sample handling, preparation, scheduling and record-keeping in Samalaju, Bintulu.

Candidate must have a Diploma or Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering/Science, 1–2 years of relevant experience, and good communication and management skills. Fluency in Mandarin is an added advantage; willing to work at Samalaju, Bintulu Sarawak.

Qualifications

• Candidate must possess at least Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering/Science or equivalent.
• Requires at least 1-2 years of relevant working experience.
• Good communication and management skills.
• Fluency in Mandarin is an added advantage.
• Willing to work in Samalaju, Bintulu Sarawak.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prepare samples, schedule work, and keep records.
• Check incoming raw materials and coordinate inspections and testing.
• Supervise sampling, preparation, and grading processes.
• Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide timely feedback.
• Enforce workplace discipline and safety compliance.
• Assist to supervise Auxiliary department staff for SH&E compliance.
• Carry out other duties as directed by superiors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible to undertake day to day activities including but not limit to receiving of sample, arrangement of work schedule, sample preparation and keeping of records and data of the samples;

Responsible for checking of incoming raw materials, conveying relevant information and arranging personnel to carry out inspection, sample preparation, particle size testing and any other work in timely manner;

Responsible for supervising and inspection of the sample taking and preparation process and take lead in sample and sampling preparation;

Supervise and inspection of the sampling and sample preparation and grading;

Assign work to subordinates and holding subordinates accountable for their duties and responsibilities by providing specific and timely feedback, measuring the performance of teams and individuals and delegating effectively;

Enforcing and managing the discipline of subordinates;

Assist to supervise the team members of the Auxiliary department for compliance to the company's Safety, Health and Environmental requirements;

Assist to supervise the team members of the Auxiliary department for compliance to the department's Standard Operating Procedures;

Assists with enforcement of workplace discipline and compliance to workplace regulations;

Assists superiors in taking appropriate action to address breaches in workplace discipline breaches of regulations;

Carrying out all other duties or works as assigned to and/or as directed by your superior(s).

Requirements

Candidate must possess at least Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering/Science/or equivalent.

Requires at least 1-2 years of relevant working experience.

Good communication and management skills. Candidate who possessed supervisory experience is an advantage.

Fluency in mandarin is an added advantage as the role is required to deal with mandarin speaking foreign employees.
