Job summary

OM Materials (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Procurement professional to lead vendor sourcing, evaluation and final supplier selection in Samalaju, Bintulu. The role supports requisitions, samples, and timely delivery while coordinating with Mandarin-speaking vendors.

The successful candidate will review orders, negotiate terms, and drive cost reductions across material and services, working closely with internal users and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Candidate must possess at least a Degree Holder in Business Administration or equivalent.
• At least 1–2 years of working experience in related fields.
• Fluency in Mandarin is an advantage for dealing with mandarin-speaking employees/vendors.

Responsibilities

• Performs new vendor sourcing, evaluate competencies, rate new vendors, manage RFQ process and final vendor selection.
• Review OR submitted by end user, confirming required specification and quantity.
• Follow up and request sample delivery from new vendor, coordinate sample approval.
• Review machine capacity, tooling fabrication, raw material & packing with new vendors before mass production to ensure timely delivery.
• Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery of orders.
• Negotiate commercial contracts to achieve best pricing, terms and service levels.
• Cost reduction exercises with vendor to minimize total cost.
• Resolve problems independently with minimal guidance from senior.

Duties and Responsibilities

Performs new vendor sourcing, evaluate competencies, rate new vendors, manage the Request For Quotation process and final vendor selection;

Review Order Requisition (“OR”) submitted by end user, confirming required specification and quantity with the end user;

Follow up and request sample delivery from new vendor, coordinate the whole process of sample approval;

Review machine capacity, tooling fabrication (if any), raw material & packing preparation with new vendors before mass production to endure delivery on time to our company;

Follow up with the vendors to ensure timely delivery of order placed;

Managed quality dispute with vendors and goods return request from end users;

Monitor and evaluate vendor performance (price, delivery, quality, technical & support) and follow up with vendor for improvement plan;

Negotiate commercial contract with vendors to establish best-in-class pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, payment, warranty, service terms and etc, for the maximum benefit of the company;

Cost Reduction Exercise with vendor to ensure the lowest possible total cost, including product cost, transportation cost, inventory cost, and cost of quality;

Resolve problems independently with minimal guidance from senior;

Ad hoc jobs will be allocated upon request from manager or superior.

Job Requirement

Candidate must possess at least a Degree Holder in Business Administration or equivalent.

At least 1 - 2 year (s) of working experience in the related fields is required for this position.

Fluency in Mandarin is an advantage as the role is required to deal with mandarin speaking foreign employees/vendor.
