Job summary

Ferrotec Power Semiconductor Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Costing Executive to manage product costing, BOM reviews, and cost reporting. The role involves standard vs. actual cost analyses, variance investigations, and monitoring materials, WIP and finished goods costs in a manufacturing setting.

You will support monthly close, cost planning and budgeting, collaborating with Production, Engineering, Purchasing and Warehouse teams to ensure accurate costing information and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Cost Accounting or related field.
• 2–3 years costing/accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Experience with BOM, WIP, inventory costing and variance analysis preferred.
• Proficient in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP) and data analysis.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems is a plus.

Job description

The Costing Executive is responsible for preparing and maintaining product costing, including material, labour and manufacturing overhead costs. This role involves performing standard cost vs. actual cost analysis, investigating significant variances, and analysing manufacturing costs including material usage, labour, overhead, yield and production variances. The position requires reviewing and maintaining Bill of Materials (BOM) and product cost structures, monitoring and analysing raw materials, Work-in-Progress (WIP) and finished goods inventory costs, and assisting with monthly closing, inventory reconciliation and manufacturing cost reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain product costing, including material, labour and manufacturing overhead costs
• Perform standard cost vs. actual cost analysis and investigate significant variances
• Analyse manufacturing costs, including material usage, labour, overhead, yield and production variances
• Review and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and product cost structures
• Monitor and analyse raw materials, Work-in-Progress (WIP) and finished goods inventory costs
• Assist with monthly closing, inventory reconciliation and manufacturing cost reporting
• Prepare cost analysis, margin and profitability reports for management
• Assist in annual budgeting, forecasting and cost planning
• Work closely with Production, Engineering, Purchasing and Warehouse teams to ensure accurate costing information
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support cost reduction and continuous improvement projects

About you

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Cost Accounting or a related field
• Minimum 2 - 3 years of relevant costing/accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Experience in manufacturing costing, standard costing, BOM, WIP, inventory costing and variance analysis is preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, especially Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and data analysis
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems is an added advantage
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work independently and meet reporting deadlines
• Experience in the semiconductor/electronics manufacturing industry is an added advantage
• Able to speak and read Mandarin is preferred to effectively communicate with Mandarin‑speaking clients.
