Job summary

The successful candidate will review drawings, BQ, and schedules, prepare costed tender submissions, and manage variations and claims as projects progress.

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, MTO/BOM, labour and installation costs.
• Review tender invitations, drawings, specifications, BQ and schedules; prepare detailed tender pricing and cost breakdowns.
• Identify design, client, site or variation costs; measure and price additional/omitted works; support negotiations with suppliers and clients.

Job description

Responsible for quantity take-off, cost estimation, tender pricing, commercial evaluation and quantity surveying for fire protection system projects. Ensure materials, equipment, labour, installation, testing, commissioning, preliminaries, overheads, risks and profit margins are properly accounted for. Review tender invitations, drawings, specifications, BQ and schedules; prepare detailed quantity take-offs, MTO/BOM, labour and installation costs. Obtain RFQs and quotations; compare supplier/subcontractor offers on a like-for-like basis; evaluate specifications, brands, lead times and commercial terms; negotiate pricing; maintain supplier/subcontractor rate databases. Prepare detailed tender pricing, unit rates, direct/indirect costs, preliminaries, overheads, contingency and profit. Prepare tender clarifications and support management in final pricing and negotiations. Measure and value fire protection works; maintain BQ and quantity records; verify installed quantities; prepare variations, interim claims, subcontractor claim assessments and final accounts; monitor project cost commitments. Identify design, client, site, authority and coordination variations; measure and price additional/omitted works; track approved and pending variations; compare actual costs against tender estimates and identify potential cost overruns. Provide awarded tender breakdown, take-offs, assumptions, exclusions, quotations, provisional sums, risks and pricing methodology to the project team; highlight differences between tender and construction requirements.
