Job summary

Hong Leong Bank is seeking an experienced professional to lead merchant acquiring compliance projects with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and card schemes (Visa, MasterCard, UPI, PayNet). You will oversee PCI-DSS, scheme rule updates, and tokenization initiatives across multiple payment channels.

The role requires strong contract drafting, regulatory analysis, and cross-functional coordination to ensure risk mitigation and regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in merchant acquiring, payment gateways, regulatory compliance or fintech legal roles.
• Strong familiarity with BNM regulations, scheme rules (Visa/MC/UPI/PayNet), PCI-DSS, and tokenization/QR payment tech.
• Excellent contract drafting, project management, regulatory analysis and cross-functional coordination skills.

• Lead merchant acquiring compliance projects for BNM and schemes (Visa, MasterCard, UPI, PayNet).

• Act as primary back-up for Hire Purchase initiatives within the CED area.

Key Responsibilities

• Scheme & Regulatory Compliance: Lead merchant acquiring compliance projects for BNM and card schemes (Visa, MasterCard, UPI, PayNet). Manage bi-annual scheme rule updates and oversee the PCI-DSS compliance project.
• Legal & Contract Management: Oversee all project-related legal, contractual, and regulatory documentation to ensure risk mitigation and compliance.
• Tokenization & Payment Gateway Support: Support Payment Gateway Tokenization initiatives across Apple Pay, Visa, MasterCard, UPI, and PayNet for both e-commerce and QR transactions.
• Cross-Border & Strategic Projects (Project Panda): Drive ongoing initiatives including P2P, international remittance, and cross-border QR payment integrations.
• Operational Coverage: Act as primary back-up coverage for Hire Purchase (HP) initiatives within the CED area.

Requirements

• Experience: 3-5+ years in merchant acquiring, payment gateways, regulatory compliance, or fintech legal roles.
• Domain Knowledge: Strong familiarity with BNM regulations, scheme rules (Visa/MC/UPI/PayNet), PCI-DSS standards, and tokenization/QR payment technologies.
