Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking an experienced Contracts and Commercial Manager to lead all contractual and commercial aspects of our high-rise, industrial, and building construction projects in Malaysia. You will review, draft, negotiate, and administer main contracts and subcontracts to protect the company’s interests.

You will oversee claims, EOTs, loss and expense claims, and final accounts, while mitigating risks and advising project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law, or a related discipline.
• 8–10 years of relevant experience in contract management and commercial administration within a main contractor environment.
• Experience handling high-rise building projects (residential, commercial, mixed-use or industrial) in Malaysia.
• Strong knowledge of contract administration, claims management, variation orders, EOT submissions, dispute resolution, and final account negotiations.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership capability with experience managing and mentoring contract and commercial teams.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all contractual and commercial matters for the Company's construction projects.
• Review, draft, negotiate, and administer main contracts, subcontracts, and related agreements.
• Oversee contract administration including claims, EOT, loss and expense claims, and final accounts.
• Identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide contractual advice and support to project teams, management, clients, and subcontractors.
• Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with timelines, budgets, and objectives.
• Manage dispute avoidance and resolution processes with stakeholders.
• Support procurement and tendering activities including contract reviews and evaluations.
• Collaborate with project, engineering, quantity surveying, and procurement teams for smooth execution.
• Prepare and review notices, claims submissions, variation orders, and related correspondence.
• Lead and mentor contracts and quantity surveying team to achieve objectives.

• Monitor project progress and ensure compliance with contractual obligations, project timelines, budgets, and commercial objectives.
• Manage dispute avoidance and resolution processes, including negotiations, contractual correspondence, and settlement discussions with relevant stakeholders.
• Support procurement and tendering activities, including contract reviews, tender evaluations, commercial assessments, and subcontractor appointments.
• Work closely with project, engineering, quantity surveying, and procurement teams to ensure smooth project execution and effective contract management.
• Prepare and review contractual notices, claims submissions, variation orders, and project-related correspondence.
• Lead and mentor the contracts and quantity surveying team to achieve project and organizational objectives.

Requirements

• Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in contract management and commercial administration within a main contractor environment.
• Proven experience in handling high-rise building projects, including residential, commercial, mixed-use, or industrial developments in Malaysia.
• Strong knowledge of contract administration, claims management, variation orders, EOT submissions, dispute resolution, and final account negotiations.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership capability with experience managing and mentoring contract and commercial teams.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and perform effectively under tight deadlines.
