Job summary

Oriental United Construction Sdn Bhd is seeking a Construction Purchaser to join the procurement team in Kuala Lumpur on a full-time basis. The role focuses on sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services to support construction projects and timelines.

The ideal candidate has proven construction procurement experience, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency with procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Construction Purchaser or in a similar procurement role.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and suppliers.
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure pricing and favourable terms.
• Proficiency with procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational and time management skills for multiple tasks.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in processing purchase orders.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Understanding of construction project schedules and prioritisation.
• Proactive problem-solving and supply chain management.
• Preferred: experience in Malaysia's construction sector and local suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers and vendors for construction materials, equipment, and services
• Sourcing competitive quotations and negotiating contracts to achieve optimal pricing and terms
• Preparing and processing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of specifications, quantities, and delivery requirements
• Managing supplier relationships and communications to ensure timely delivery and issue resolution
• Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with project teams to forecast material requirements
• Maintaining procurement records and documentation for audit and compliance
• Liaising between project managers, site supervisors, and suppliers to address procurement challenges
• Contributing to cost control and identifying procurement savings without compromising quality
• Ensuring compliance with company procurement policies, regulations, and health and safety standards
