About the role
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing operations team based in Penang Island, Penang. This role is central to our production capabilities, where you will operate and maintain Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery to produce precision components that meet our exacting quality standards. As a CNC Machinist, you will play a vital part in ensuring our manufacturing processes run efficiently and deliver products that exceed customer expectations. This is a hands-on position that requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Operating CNC machines including mills, lathes and other precision equipment to produce components according to technical drawings and specifications
- Setting up CNC machines, including tool changes, work holding devices and parameter programming to ensure accurate machining operations
- Monitoring machine performance during operation and making real-time adjustments to maintain tolerance and quality standards
- Performing routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC equipment to ensure optimal functionality and extend machine lifespan
- Inspecting finished components using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications and quality requirements
- Maintaining accurate records of production runs, machine performance and any issues encountered during shifts
- Identifying and reporting machine malfunctions or maintenance requirements to supervisors and maintenance teams
- Adhering to all health and safety procedures and contributing to a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues
- Collaborating with production supervisors and quality control teams to resolve production challenges and improve efficiency
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or similar machine operator role, preferably within a manufacturing environment
- Strong technical knowledge of CNC machine operations, including programming basics and machine troubleshooting
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and specifications
- Experience with precision measuring instruments such as micrometres, callipers and gauges
- Competence in performing manual machining and finishing operations as required
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining strict quality and accuracy standards
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve operational issues
- A safety-conscious mindset with thorough knowledge of workshop safety practices and procedures
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a production team
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions from supervisors and technical documentation
- Physical capability to perform the demands of the role, including standing for extended periods and lifting materials
- Preferred: Experience with CAM software or CNC programming languages such as G-code
- Preferred: Relevant vocational qualifications or certifications in CNC machining or mechanical engineering
