Client Coverage and Business Development Associate

We are looking for a motivated and commercially minded individual to join our Client Coverage / Business Development team at Pacific Trustees Berhad.

This role is well suited for someone who enjoys working with people, is curious about finance and business, and wants to develop a career in financial services without being thrown into a traditional hard-selling environment.

You will work closely with our senior coverage team on real client opportunities and transactions, supporting the team from the initial enquiry and client discussions through to proposals, onboarding and execution. You will be exposed to Corporate Bonds, Sukuk, syndicated loans, REITs, structured finance and other trust and agency services, while working with investment banks, law firms, fund managers and corporates.

In the beginning, your focus will be on learning the business, supporting live opportunities and building your understanding of our clients and services. As you gain experience and confidence, you will gradually take on more responsibility for client relationships, opportunities and your own portfolio.

This is therefore a good opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond a purely administrative or back-office role, but is not necessarily looking for a high-pressure, cold-calling sales environment.

What You Will Be Doing

Client Coverage: Work alongside senior team members in engaging clients, investment banks, law firms, fund managers and other professional advisers. Help maintain relationships and ensure clients receive timely and professional responses.
Business Development: Assist in identifying potential clients and new opportunities across our trust and agency services, including Corporate Bonds / Sukuk Trustee, Facility & Security Agent, REITs Trustee, Custodian & Escrow, Collective Investment Schemes and Employee Share Plan Trustee services.
Opportunity Management: Support opportunities from the initial enquiry through research, proposal, pitching, client onboarding and transaction execution. Keep track of follow-ups and coordinate with internal teams to ensure opportunities continue moving forward.
Client Meetings & Presentations: Participate in client meetings, calls, networking events and industry functions. Assist in preparing proposals, presentations and pitch materials, with the opportunity to take a more active role as your experience develops.
Market Research: Monitor new issuances, capital market activity, regulatory developments and competitor activities. Identify companies, transactions and market developments where Pacific Trustees' services may be relevant.
Internal Coordination: Work closely with our Operations, Legal and Compliance teams to ensure new clients and transactions are properly onboarded and delivered.
Building Your Own Capability: Learn our products, processes and market while progressively taking ownership of more client relationships and business opportunities. The aim is for you to grow from supporting the team to being able to manage opportunities independently.

What We're Looking For

Educational Background: Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Law or a related discipline.
Relevant Experience: 1-3 years of experience in financial services, corporate banking, investment banking, corporate finance, legal practice, client coverage or business development. Fresh graduates with strong internships and the right attitude are also encouraged to apply.
Communication: Comfortable speaking with people and building professional relationships. You don't need to be a natural salesperson, but you should be comfortable picking up the phone, meeting clients and having a conversation.
Commercial Awareness: Interested in understanding businesses, financial transactions and how professional services are sold and delivered.
Organisation: Able to manage multiple opportunities, follow up consistently and keep track of details without needing to be reminded at every step.
Initiative: Willing to take ownership, ask questions and figure things out. We value people who see something that needs to be done and take the initiative to move it forward.
Presentation Skills: Comfortable preparing professional presentations, proposals and client materials. Good working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel is expected.
Attitude: We are less concerned about whether you already know everything about corporate trust. What matters is that you are curious, dependable, willing to learn and prepared to grow with the role.
