Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Penang seeks a payroll professional to manage end-to-end payroll processing, monthly cycles, data collection, and accurate gross-to-net calculations. You will handle IIT, SI & HF contributions and ensure timely salary payments while staying compliant with China-specific regulations.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, HR or related field.
• 0–3 years of payroll or HR operations experience, preferably with China payroll.
• Basic understanding of payroll calculations & knowledge of China payroll.
• Experience with payroll systems e.g. ADP, SAP, UKG, GAIA etc.
• Eagerness to learn and grow in a global payroll environment.
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
• Problem-solving mindset
• Good communication (English + Mandarin usually required)

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Payroll Processing.
• Process monthly payroll cycles (including off-cycle runs if needed).
• Collect, validate, and input payroll data (attendance, overtime, bonuses, deductions).
• Calculate gross-to-net salaries, taxes, and social contributions.
• Ensure accurate and timely salary payments.
• Statutory Compliance (China-specific).
• Handle IIT calculations and filings.
• Administer social insurance and housing fund contributions.
• Prepare and submit statutory reports (monthly, quarterly, annual).
• Stay updated on China labor laws and payroll regulations.
• Data Management & Reporting.
• Maintain payroll records and employee data in HR/payroll systems.
• Prepare payroll reports (labor cost reports, variance analysis, audit reports).
• Support year-end activities (annual tax filing, reconciliation).
• Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination.
• Liaise with payroll vendors and government authorities.
• Partner with HR and Finance on payroll inputs and reconciliations.
• Respond to employee payroll queries.
• Controls, Audit & Process Improvement.
• Perform payroll checks and reconciliations before/after payroll run.
• Support internal/external audits.
• Identify process improvements and automation opportunities.
