Job summary

ANSA TIC Veritas Sdn. Bhd. in Johor Bahru is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth in the mechanical and structural engineering sector. You will identify new market opportunities, build client relationships, and position the company for sustainable expansion.

This role requires a relevant engineering degree and at least 3 years in business development, sales or account management, with ability to travel within Johor and across Malaysia as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of BD, sales or account management experience in the mechanical/civil/structural engineering sector.
• Proficiency in English and Malay; Tamil or Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
• Strong understanding of engineering services, project delivery, and client needs.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities in civil and structural engineering markets.
• Develop and implement BD strategies aligned with company objectives and market trends.
• Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients; tailor solutions to needs.
• Prepare proposals, bids, and presentations communicating our value proposition.
• Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams to ensure feasibility and alignment with capabilities.
• Monitor market trends, competitors, and industry developments to inform strategy.
• Conduct site visits and client meetings to gather project requirements.
• Manage sales pipelines, track KPIs, and report revenue forecasts.
• Negotiate contracts and commercial terms for mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Represent the company at industry events and networking forums.

About the role

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to join ANSA TIC Veritas Sdn. Bhd. in our Johor Bahru office. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to drive business growth and expansion within the Mechanical and structural engineering sector. As Business Development Manager, you will play a strategic role in identifying new market opportunities, building client relationships, and positioning the company for sustainable growth. This role is fundamental to our commercial success and will require you to work both from the office and in the field as required.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the civil and structural engineering market, including tender opportunities and direct client engagements


• Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with company objectives and market trends


• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions


• Prepare comprehensive proposals, bids and presentations that clearly communicate our value proposition and competitive advantages


• Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams to ensure feasibility of proposed projects and alignment with company capabilities


• Monitor market trends, competitor activities and industry developments to inform strategic planning and positioning


• Conduct site visits and client meetings to assess project requirements and gather essential information


• Manage sales pipelines, track key performance indicators and provide regular reporting on business development activities and revenue forecasts


• Negotiate contracts and commercial terms to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes


• Represent the company at industry events, conferences and networking forums to enhance brand visibility and credibility

What we’re looking for

• Preferably Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline


• Minimum 3 years’ experience in business development, sales or account management within the mechanical, civil, and structural engineering sector


• Able to speak English, Malay, and either Tamil/Mandarin proficiently. Proven track record of successfully winning new business and managing client relationships in the engineering industry


• Strong understanding of Mechanical and structural engineering services, project delivery, and technical requirements


• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders


• Strategic thinking and the ability to identify market opportunities and develop actionable business plans


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with CRM systems


• Strong negotiation and contract management abilities


• Willingness to travel within Johor and Malaysia as required for client visits and project assessments


• Professional maturity and the ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with internal teams


• Preferred: Experience in tender preparation, knowledge of local building codes and regulations, or relationships within the Malaysian engineering and construction sector
