Job summary

SMJ Teratai Sdn Bhd in Penang is seeking a diligent Branch Operations & Compliance Officer to oversee daily branch procedures, enforce SOPs, AML/CFT compliance, security measures, and customer service standards across all outlets. You will coordinate audits, train staff, support marketing efforts, follow up on findings, and respond to auditors.

The role requires proactive supervision, strong communication, and the ability to manage ad-hoc projects as directed by Management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of branch operational procedures based on the prescribed checklist within the required timeframe and escalate the findings/report to Management.
• Ensure branches practice and comply with the standard SOPs outlined in the Branch SOP, and maintain the expected level of adherence in areas relating to operations, AML/CFT compliance and customer service.
• Ensure branches maintain proper security measures, including functioning alarm and CCTV systems, proper key management and proper ID distribution.
• Follow up on audit findings raised by the Internal Audit Department for rectification and provide clear and coherent responses to auditors’ queries.
• Compile, prepare and enhance all training materials and workflows related to SMJ products and services.
• Ensure the smooth daily operation of branches throughout operating hours, including proper staff arrangements.
• Support the growth of branch sales through appropriate marketing strategies, including market surveys, identifying potential market opportunities, monitoring competitor trends and conducting marketing activities with branch staff.
• Ensure newly recruited staff receive standard training in accordance with the Company’s SOPs and other relevant training materials.
• Conduct assessments for newly recruited staff for confirmation and for senior staff for promotion, where required.
• Maintain a high level of readiness and responsiveness when instructed to carry out ad-hoc projects or any other related duties assigned by Management from time to time.
